Get the Junk Outa My Mouth!

Many of you may not know that my wife (and me, too, being her life partner) has had a long battle with Lyme’s disease. It’s been since 1999, and she has been chipping away at layers of the disease- the first one being to give up nearly entirely on Western medicine, because it was doing very little for her. Despite the link I included here, the antibiotics, in most late cases of chronic Lyme, do absolutely nothing but further ruin the immune system of the person taking them.

It seems every six months or year another layer gets chipped away at. She’s TONS better than she used to be- actually close to living a normal life, something we had at one point given up hope for, and we think we have come across the next big layer for her to get out.

I should explain: by “layer” I mean that Lyme’s disease is just a part- there have been food allergies, there have been other infections, emotional traumas, etc, etc, that all compounded have weakened her immune system. Lyme was the most obvious.

Our doctor of Chinese medicine, Dr. Heiner Fruehauf at his Hai Shan clinic in Corbett, Oregon, says that she has cleared the Lyme. So, the next level? The teeth. Evidence seems to point at the fact that an old root canal has trapped an ongoing infection in her mouth, that is sapping her immune system. We are currently researching holistic dentists.

Why am I posting all of this? Three things:

1. Pick-up-sticks.
My experience with my wife’s health has led me to see that there are layers and layers of issues that get tangled. And that, although they all need to be taken care of, generally they need to be dealt with one issue at a time. Kind of like pick-up-sticks. You need to pick up all the sticks, but you start with the ones on top, and don’t try to figure it all out at once. As you take one step, the next one will be revealed.

2. Business parallel.
When someone brings a business to me that is struggling, there are generally 101 things that need to be done to get it going. But, I’ve learned from experience not to overwhelm someone with everything. I try to point out the topmost layer, and deal with that. The benefits of clearing out that first layer generally gives enough -oomph- to then get at the next layer. So be patient with yourself.

3. Your teeth

I had never really seen how much dentistry can affect your entire immune system. We’re just starting our investigation now, so we’re learning as we go, but one site we found that seems to have some good information is Dr. Huggins’ site.

Do you have thoughts or experiences that resonate for you around health, business, or teeth? Go ahead and comment below.

p.s. I’m happy to hear about alternative dentistry resources if you have them. Please don’t send Lyme resources- we are quite well supplied after seven years. 🙂
