Growing up in my family meant hearing about “the store.” My grandfather started the family’s retail wine store in 1933, right after Prohibition ended, and my parents ran it as well for many years.
Calvert-Woodley was one of “the store’s” biggest competitors. And yet, rarely, but from time-to-time, my parents would refer someone to them if we couldn’t help them. There was friendliness and respect between my grandfather and parents, and the owners of Calvert-Woodley.
I was thinking about all of this recently because a close friend and mastermind buddy of mine, Molly Gordon, is offering a program very similar to our Opening the Moneyflow program.
One of the assumed big no-no’s the “marketing gurus” tell you is to not distract your audience with too many offers, and to not send folks away from your offer. That somehow you are supposed to keep them mesmerized, staring at the bright shiny object until they, zombie-like, purchase from you.
Although there is truth to the fact that too many offers can be very confusing to someone, “Just what the heck are you saying?” I also believe that adults are adults, and they know what they need.
You may have seen my recent video about being vulnerable and willing to get help. At Heart of Business, the entire team has a profound commitment to people getting the help they need. So when Jason, one of our star practitioners, suggested we let people know about Molly’s program as well as our own, I knew he was right.
Molly is someone I trust a great deal. I’ve known her for years. I had the privilege of being her business coach for awhile, and when she completed I had every intention of turning around and hiring her. The only thing that stopped me was that I was able to worm my way into her master mind group instead, so that I’ve gotten her feedback and support personally and professional for over six years now.
Recently I spent a good 45 minutes talking through my hopes and fears, and my business structure, with her. She listened. She pushed back and called “B.S” where needed, and she gave such love, compassion and CLARITY that I came out of the call riding high. And, what’s more, what she told me was dead on. Every time I talk to her, same thing.
She’s offering her Profit Alchemy program starting in January. There are some real similarities to our Opening the Moneyflow. There is a price difference (her program is less expensive), it’s shorter (9 months as opposed to our year-long), and it’s Molly-flavored as opposed to Mark-Jason-Yollana-flavored.
There are other differences, but you can see those for yourself if you read about it, which I suggest you do. (There’s a video below of Molly and I talking about the similarities and differences between our programs.)
Here’s the point I’m making: if you need help, get help. One of the biggest success indicators I’ve seen is whether someone is willing to be vulnerable and get help when they need it.
Having a successful business includes a lot of moving parts. There can be a simplicity and elegance to it, but getting to that simplicity and elegance is not so easy to do on your own. Every time Heart of Business has taken a big jump, it’s been because we’ve been willing to get the right help.
How do you know if it’s the right help from the right people? Ask yourself the following questions:
Do I like and trust them? Could I see immersing myself in their world and coming out better for it?
Do I feel safe enough with them that I feel good having them support me into new and uncomfortable territory?
Does what they say make sense and do they create results?
Here’s Where I Push You And the Video
Take a moment to check in with your heart. Do you need help? If you do, make a commitment to getting help.
Now, see if either Molly’s or our program is right for you. As I said I highly recommend Molly’s, as well as our own.
Read them. As you read, pay attention to what lights you up and what makes your nervous. Both are important indicators of opportunities for you to grow and become more profitable.
Notice what resonates. Then sit quietly and consider what you want for yourself and your business next year.
When you and your heart know which program suits you better, send in your application.
If you want, spend some time watching this video of Molly and I talking up the similarities and differences between our programs.
