I am shattered, overwhelmed by the immense insanity not just of the shooting today in Newtown, Connecticut, but of the 22 previous mass shootings in the U.S. since 2007, including one a few days ago here outside of Portland. And this is one small slice of the violence we humans do to each other globally, every day.
My first response was to weep and shout “No!” My second response was to text my wife Holly and let her know.
I’m grateful I’m leading a Virtual Retreat today- and wouldn’t ordinarily be on social media today. But I wanted to extend the prayers and intentions of the folks in retreat today to include the entire Heart of Business community.
A prayer for peace:
Allahumma anta salaam
wa minka salaam
wa ilayka ya’udu salaam
tabarakta rabana wa ta’alayta
ya dhul jalali wal’ikram.
May those who are facing unimaginable grief and pain be comforted. May all of us learn how to care for one another. May we learn how to take action to support justice and peace.
May we heal the cycle of violence.
May we come to know love in every moment.
Amin.

Yes, Mark, I saw this on Facebook earlier, and shared it with my tribe. I thank you for stepping out of retreat today to lean into this almost-too-big-to-contemplate ongoing tragedy.
My heart to yours, what else is there for us to do? Love and compassion, even when it seems so out of reach.
Love!
Sue
