Today I'm in Yakima, Washington

Yakima, Washington mapAnd any place named “Yakima” deserves it’s own blog post.

In the fall of last year I was invited to go speak for the Yakima Advertising Federation by Brett Lamb (and here’s his website), who was evidently struck by what I was writing in my articles.

Similar to how I felt when I was on my way to speak for National Speakers Association International Conference last summer, and what I wrote up when I was going to speak in Santa Fe for the International Confernece on Business and Consciousness, I’m wondering how my message of heart and ego will be received by advertising professionals.

But, I’m not nearly as nervous as those previous occasions. I think what’s happening to me in some of these speaking opportunities is the same thing as is happening to me in my shadow yoga immersion class– I’m being stretched.

And, in being stretched, I’m realizing that people are people, and hearts are hearts. Hey, I guess I already knew that, but I keep learning it, and learning it, much to my amazement.

At this point, I’m fully expecting the advertising professionals in Yakima to respond to my message in the same way that the corporate folks in Santa Fe, or the professional speakers in San Diego heard me: with their hearts.

How about you?

Are you being stretched into unusual places, and finding that… they aren’t so unusual? Share stories. Let’s strengthen in each other. And I’ll let you know how Yakima was.

  1. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability & learnings Mark.

My worst nightmare came true several years ago when I was teaching a group of seniors how to do the Remembrance. After requesting that they pair off for the experiential exercise I had just described, one of the participants looked @ me & said “NO ! I am not going to do this !”. I had a moment of panic, went into my heart & did Remembrance for about 1 minute & then new exactly what to do. It was fascinating because immediately after doing the Remembrance for that 1 minute, someone in the grp. looked up & said “wow ! I suddenly feel so close to everyone”. Then the woman who had refused to participate started to cry ….. the whole thing had a lovely ending.

  2. That’s a great story, Linda- and a great reminder. thanks for sharing it!

If we stay true to ourselves, and our connection to our Source, it seems like things have a way of turning around…
