Wow, I did it! Four days in a row, one video each day. I’m amazed. (If you’re wondering what this is about, check Day One.)
Today I had a hankering to work the whiteboard in, and had to figure out how to light it without creating a monstrous glare. I did it moderately well, although it’s not the brightest. I may need to get a couple of additional lights to really make it work well.
I also realize I could have made the presentation cleaner, but I opted to just do this in one take, since my intention is to learn and get it done, not create perfect video.
Today I elected to jump into a juicy Sufi topic, Transmission. You know, when you have an experience of something profound or important and you’re wanting to give that experience directly to the client, to help them leap forward? I explain spiritual transmission as it was taught to me, and as I helped to teach it in the Teacher Internship Program at the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism.
So here it is:
Was it helpful? I probably didn’t need to stand directly in front of my illustration, eh?

Thanks, Mark. I got a huge aha! from this. While I have my own version of this that I do with live contacts and phone contacts with people, it’s often missing when I write. No wonder some of my blog posts sound lecture-y and preachy when I don’t want them to. This heart connection is missing. I’m going to try applying this to writing. Thanks for the teaching, and nice job with the white board and titles mixed in with the video! I appreciate it all.
I haven’t tried it myself yet I wonder what might happen if you used a light from below to illuminate the board without a parallel glare with the camera lens. (I have seen this done elsewhere.) If you try this I’d be interested to know if it worked or not – total experiment. 😉
Perhaps the most important thing you have done this week is not to make the videos, but to make them AND put them up, warts (or video hair) and all….
I have one have been making the videos but not putting them out – “not good enough”.
Perhaps “not good enough” IS good enough-mmm, that observation might just rock my world….Thank you (and I still need that microphone)… 🙂
Hey Mark
I’m loving what you are doing in your video challenge. So inspiring, as I know how hard I’ve found staring at a camera while attempting to communicate from my Heart.
The message in this vid had a huge impact. Some years back my spiritual master revealed to me his state of pure Christ/Krishna/Allah Consciousness.
The immense beauty of Divine Consciousness was overwhelming and had a deeply profound impact on my mind, the ripples from which continue to touch me to this day.
But although I knew this Consciousness was my essence, and lived that awareness on retreat and in deep meditation, I was not living it fully in the marketplace.
Hearing your words that transmission is a mirror for the student to recognise the Divine living within and as themselves, acted like a Zen “slap”.
Instantly, the recognition that I AM that incredible beauty flooded my mind. It may sound strange, but accepting my essence, who I am, as beauty beyond the ability of words to describe has been extremely hard for me. Much easier to acknowledge the pain and mistakes!
So I offer deep and profound thanks to you, my brother in spirit, for this great blessing.

Beautiful. Beautiful… It’s all done with mirrors, isn’t it? So glad you are doing your work in the world, and that we’re walking similar paths together.
