We’ve been having an inspiring, international conversation about the Obama presidency in The Business Oasis. There’s a snippet that Tenter Jocelyn Kahn wrote that I think is worth sharing with you all.
I saw a quote on Oprah’s website from a show she did today:
Quote: The 2008 presidential campaign wasn’t just a political movement—U.S. Rep. Lewis says it was also spiritual. “It was something about this man,”he says. “I felt that Barack Obama had been tracked down by the spirit of history and was aligning himself to be used for the common good.”
My sentiments exactly! I get the feeling Obama stepped into his destiny, which is why his exceedingly improbable candidacy succeeded – that, and the fact that he worked like hell without let-up for two years! He’s a great demo of the fact that just because you’re following your God-given path doesn’t mean it’s going to be at all easy or certain…
(I added the bold emphasis.)
Just because you’re on your path, doesn’t mean it’s easy. That’s why I had just written the article on What Your Business Heart Needs in A Down Economy.
I’m curious what you’re beliefs are around “being on your path” and whether you find you too, (like me), get caught in unrealistic expectations on how easy something should be.

I’ve heard it said (don’t recall where) that if it’s too easy, it’s probably not your path.
Interesting, Anne… that goes against certain pop culture conventional wisdom. And I like it. 🙂 Although I personally have to be careful, because I can get addicted to the “if it’s not hard, it’s wrong” philosophy, which can be just as extreme…
Hi Mark
Yes, I do… i totally get caught up in how easy it should be and how the world should bend to allow me time to do what i SHOULD be doing etc etc. a lot of work to be done here…
take care!
@Tatty- thanks for dropping by. And, isn’t it easy to get caught up in how it should be easy? The adoption process we’re in now is like that a lot, and I’m struggling to remember this myself- that just because it’s hard, it doesn’t mean anything is wrong.
Take care, too!
