Prayers for Those in Mumbai

One of our clients grew up in Mumbai, where attacks by those caught up in fear and rage and distortions of their religion have killed, injured, or taken hostage hundreds of people.

Thankfully, her family is safe, although she tells us a story of family missing tragedy by a mere 15 minutes.

I want to encourage all who hear of this to make prayers for peace and wholeness, and not of revenge. To make prayers for love and mercy and compassion, and not of revenge. To make prayers for strength, and intervention that creates peace, and not of revenge.

I know that I am susceptible to very strong emotions- rage, fear, terror- and I know how close I have personally come to acting out on that rage and fear. I nearly hurt someone who had done me no harm- this was when I was working as a paramedic, and it woke me up. I quit being a paramedic shortly thereafter to regain my humanity.

But, none of us are above acting out very strong emotions. And I can only grieve for those who have been killed and injured, and I grieve for those whose hearts are caught in the grip of such strong emotions that they would injure another being.

If you read this, please take a moment to remember in your heart that there is Oneness, that there is a Source of Love, and to help unveil that Source and Love in this world, especially in Mumbai, but also in all places that cry out for it.

Spread the love

  1. After offering my prayers and seeking the blessings of God, I roamed around the premises and lived the moment and heard some Muslims say their prayer. I left this place feeling positive and divine and with a lot of belief and faith in the one and only Saint/God.
