Basically, I disappeared for three weeks, since my last post. Let me give you the bullet-point update:
• We’re in the process of adopting a child. We had a 2, TWO, almost-adoptions in the last month, and it really spun us emotionally. We’re okay, but it took up a lot of my creative/thinking space.
• We had to let our last assistant go, for a variety of reasons (she’s a fabulous person, don’t get me wrong- just a bad fit.) Emotional-overload PLUS too many details to handle PLUS going through interviewing and hiring again.
The bottom-line lesson? Life is lived in the physical world, not on my blog. I want to show up here, as long as I can be of service, and meet good people. But, when my head gets turned around with these kinds of things, the blog tends to drift out of my consciousness.
Here’s my hope:
Once we hire our new assistant and get her up to speed (all of the successful applicants, the ones who made it to the interview stage, are women), I’ll have more creativity and spaciousness.
In the meantime, I highly recommend an article I published last Wednesday to my email list:
The Curse of Professionalism In Your Business.
The one thing I AM good at is responding. So, if you have a question, insight, or comment about the Curse of Professionalism, you’ll hear from me.
So, thank you for your patience. I’m still alive. Just a little underwater.

Mark! (*multiple exclamation points!*)
So great to have you back.
That being said, take your time. I’m pretty sure no one expects you to do other than live your life. We know you’ll be back to share with us when you’re ready.
Good luck with all the transitioning and challenges, and looking forward to hearing about your process when you’re ready to share some of it.
Take care!
Hi Christine,
Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for your well-wishes. It means a lot to me.
Thanks, Havi! A big piece of all of this will be sliding into place around 2pm- or at least I hope so.
We’re having a second interview with our top choice for our assistant/manager position. Once that’s taken care of, I have a feeling that both detail-wise, and energy-wise, I’ll have a lot more creative space opened up.
