Off to Santa Fe

We’re leaving on a jet plane tomorrow morning to attend the 9th International Business and Consciousness Conference, where I’m presenting on Quality. I feel pretty honored to be included on the roster, with the likes of Lance SecretanMartin RutteStephen Covey, among many others.

I do admit to feeling a bit nervous- in some ways I’m going to be out of my element. I think the conference’s audience is mostly corporate, larger organizations, and where I work is with small and micro businesses. My challenge is going to be to stay in my heart, stick with my knowing, and really meet my audience without abandoning my center. Obviously, I’m going to have to ask the Divine to help me surrender here. I’ll certainly let you know how it goes.

I was in a similar position during the summer when I presented for the National Speakers Association at their international conference in San Diego in July, 2007. But still, that was different. They were still all small business people, even if I felt like a fish out of water in that atmosphere. And, still, I found ‘my people’- which was lovely to have a full room of them to connect to.

In this case, they are going to be ‘my people’ in terms of spirituality and consciousness in business, but the corporate thing… I’m probably making a lot of assumptions, and I’m sure I’ll find ‘my people’ too. Plus, this time, my wife Holly is coming along, and that’s a treat.

I’m curious: have you been invited to present or otherwise show up in front of groups that aren’t your normal folks? How did you keep your center? Where do you find the balance between meeting your audience, and staying in your strength?

  1. I’m afraid you aren’t going to get this in time but in case you do…just remember what your true intention is. Remember that you are sharing what you know in hopes that it is helpful. And it will therefore be just the perfect thing many people needed and wanted. Good luck!

  2. Hi, maralee. It’s totally in time- I don’t present until Tuesday. Thank you sending me thoughts- it helps me to stay connected. 🙂

It’s humbling- I can be flying high in one moment, or one arena, and then the next one… splash down…

    And back up again. 🙂
