Pulling Up Stakes and Moving On: Ending The Business Oasis

It’s with some sadness, tempered by a lightness in my heart that we announce the closing of our community membership site, The Business Oasis.

We have so much love, appreciation and admiration for everyone who has participated in The Business Oasis over the last five years. There has been so much honest sweat, tears and soul put into the interactions. It’s been deeply nourishing to witness and share in.

As an integral member of this community, you deserve to know why we’re closing it down.

As we continue to grow and hone our products and services, it has become clear that Heart of Business is primarily about education. We, as a team, are teachers with healing skills. Much of what we are passionate about revolves around these questions: “How do people grow and change? How do people learn? How do they apply what they learn to make a real difference in themselves, in their businesses, in the world?”

The Business Oasis has been and was built to be a community hang-out place with some learning resources, not an educational center. Community is a critical need in heart-centered business making, yet it’s not our primary mission. We still want to participate hugely in online community, but we don’t need to charge you for that, and, more importantly for us, we don’t need to sink a huge amount of human effort into maintaining a whole separate site for that reason.

With all of the changes in social media over the last two to three years, especially the upswing in Facebook and Twitter popularity and usability, suddenly there are many places to connect online. We can hang out elsewhere, without you needing to pay us, and all you have to do is travel with us.

Business Oasis Members-Will You Help Us?

We know that so many people have poured their heart and soul into relationships here at the Oasis, and it can feel painful to have this change come. We at Heart of Business have gone through a grieving process to let go of the Oasis, and you may need to, also.

We invite you to share any reactions or grieving in the Tent over the next few weeks until we shut down on November 5. We want to welcome all comments, both the appreciation and love, and any pain, sadness or upset. Here’s the discussion thread on the Tent.

In addition, there will be a conference call on November 5 at 2 p.m. Pacific where we can together prayerfully transition our meeting place. Into the future we’re going to be using the Heart of Business page on Facebook as a place to gather as a community, and there is a discussion forum there (see below).

The Virtual Retreat on November 19 will happen as scheduled, and we intend to continue holding Virtual Retreats into 2011. Please join us.

Still Want to Connect With Heart of Business? Here’s How:

Just like the nomads of the desert, we heart-centered business owners will never be homeless. As we pick up the tent poles of The Business Oasis, load up our camels and move on, we invite you to follow us on over to Facebook.

Our Facebook Page: Community Discussion and Study Groups

Want the mutual support and connection of other heart-centered and spiritually-aware business owners? Or need a place for your Heart of Business study group to call home?

Come on over to our Facebook Page. We will have discussions, and be posting free resources and nourishing links for the heart of your business. It’s a great way to connect with us and other heart-centered businesses. And it costs you nothing. Nice.

Thank You For Your Membership–And We May Owe You

As a member of The Business Oasis, you may have paid in advance. If you still have a balance in your membership, we want to make good with you. Look for an email in your inbox with details by Monday. If you have a balance and don’t hear from us by the end of the day Monday, please let us know.

Need Help Actually Getting Your Business Going?

Community is fantastic and necessary, and yet it’s not always enough to actually move your business forward.

This is especially true if you want to develop your business, get clients and support yourself without trampling on your heart or your sense of the sacred. Heart of Business is an educational organization, after all, and here’s how we can support you in your business learning and development.

Small Groups: Opening the Moneyflow
Starting in January, we’ll be launching the 2011 version of our program, Opening the Moneyflow. We continue to grow and evolve in our delivery, and this year’s program is a good bit different than last years’.

There will be three levels to choose from: a bare-budget DIY version, three mid-range small groups each working with one of our practitioners, and a premium advanced small group working directly with Mark Silver. We’ll be announcing the details of this program and the options in a few weeks.

Individual Work with a Practitioner

We have skilled, experienced, deep-hearted practitioners, who you can work one-on-one with through our Organic Business Development Program. They’ll support the growth and development of your business spiritually and emotionally, while always having a focus on actually making your business work financially.
