As you receive today’s lesson yours truly and the entire Heart of Business team are in a 3-day team retreat, Thursday through Saturday. We started the habit of taking this time every six months because of how nourishing it is to spend time together, and how it increases the quality of our decisions.
There is a lot to say about why retreats are good, but let me mention something else. A few years ago it was just me, with some help from a VA (hi, Susan!). No real team, so no real retreats.
You may not want to grow your company to even the small team we have. You may be happy being self-employed, and that’s great.
But to have the choice means that you need to bring in enough clients and sales. And you have to ENJOY the sales process enough so that you can keep doing it without feeling like you’re betraying your heart or sliming someone else.
Today: The Second Lesson
There’s no place in sales that brings out the tendency to either go “slimey” or to scream in frustration more than when a potential client, someone who seems sincerely interested, starts to wind up the conversation.
But they don’t say, “Yes.” They don’t even say, “No,” which would at least be clear. They say instead, “I’ll think about it.”
Now, this is a legitimate response. Of course they need to think about it. Unfortunately, if it’s not handled well, most of those “I’ll think about it’s” will disappear into thin air.

May 15 the full Sacred Selling course begins. And we’re right in the middle of the no-cost learning series. Already the first two of three lessons have been released.
