One new business practice for 2015

Recently someone asked me what was going to be different for me in 2015, what radical changes I was contemplating. I scratched my head and realized that I wasn’t contemplating any radical changes.

With two kids in kindergarten, with Heart of Business moving forward steadily on the path we’re working, I wasn’t seeing the need for a radical change of focus.

I’ve always taken a stand for steady, for organic development, and the evidence backs up this approach. Jim Collins, in his now-classic business book Good to Great, showed the evidence that companies of all sorts made radical changes in outcome through steady, non-radical, step-by-step progress over time.

In fact, sudden, big radical changes were often associated with failure, as the ship kept changing direction, and couldn’t get momentum.

As I think back over my life, breakthroughs were rarely because of a big, sudden, radical shift. They mostly seemed to come because the timing was right, and I kept doing what needed to be done, in my heart and in the world.

In our backyard I’ve watched our garden bloom, in our kids, I’ve watched them come into themselves, both in startling, amazing ways. Because they all, the kids, the garden, were given what they needed to bloom. Which turns out to be very similar: good nutrition, a lot of love, and a fair amount of dirt. 🙂

If you’re contemplating big changes or resolutions this year, take some time in your heart before committing, and consider whether you’re already on your path, and you just need to keep walking forward, in love.

For today, our star practitioner Yollana Shore  tells the story of how she came to be working with us here at Heart of Business. It was because of a small, regular business practice she learned from a (different) non-heart-centered business teacher, whom she didn’t even like that much.

Do you do something like this? And what are you contemplating for 2015? Big changes? Or stay the course? Let’s talk about it!

Last Day for our December Specials

We’ve made real changes to our two main programs, Clients and Money, and Expand Your Reach. Both involve a significant price drop, and also making them even better and easier to learn from.

The special offers are both number-limited, because we can’t deliver that many of the special offers, and also time-limited, specifically for folks who are enrolling to start in January. If you’ve been contemplating either of these courses, today is your day. And yes, the bonuses aren’t all gone, or I wouldn’t be mentioning them here. 🙂

Which course is for you?

Foundations1: Clients and Money is for those who are in start-up, are contemplating starting up, or maybe you’ve been at it for a while, but your income has been extremely low, and you just need to learn how to get clients and money in the door. Click here to read the detailed description.

Foundations2: Expand Your Reach is for those who are doing a bit better than start-up, but still experiencing feast and famine in your business. Some months you maybe do okay, or even well, others not so much. If you had a larger audience, including a kick-butt website that really felt like you, and organic, authentic ways to reach out, you know you would fill your classes and your client schedule. Take a deeper look at each course to see which one best describes where you are.

If you still aren’t sure, you can always fill out a Readiness Assessment and we can take a closer look at your business to see what your business really needs.

For those of you who are ready for more, we also have one-on-one or small group coaching. All five of us love working with our clients, so take a look and see:

  1. Hi Mark,

Unfortunately the video in this post is set up as “private”. When I clicked on it I was asked for a password and it said I had to be a “member” (of what is not clear).

Could you clarify and suggest how I can watch the vid?

Best wishes for a peaceful 2015,

    Leo

  2. Mmm, how nourishing! Both Yollana’s stories and Mark’s convincing reminder that “slow and steady wins the race.” I know I can always count on Heart of Business posts to inform, inspire and educate my livelihood practice.

Happy New Year to everyone at HoB!
    With much appreciation,
