Okay, I’m ready to embarrass myself in front of you. π Truthfully, I don’t feel embarrassed, but maybe I should. This first video is me, on the guitar. You see, two years ago, almost to the day, I made a similar video, but much worse.
Here’s the video from now:
For reference, here’s the video from two years ago:
If you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear two things from you:
- A celebration of one thing in your business that has gotten better over the last two years? What have you improved on, even if you have a ways to go?
- In the next year in your business what do you want to improve on , something you’d love to celebrate this time next year?
I put this video out, with all of my imperfections and poor singing, to show my willingness to ante up first, because I’m so wanting to hear your own perfectly imperfect celebrations and yearnings. It’s a great time of year for this.
One last thing before we go.
Jason, Yollana and I are very excited about our Small Group Coaching offer. We’re seeing really beautiful, heart-centered people coming forward to join us.
A gift that we’ve been nurturing for more than a decade is how to create the space within a group that nurtures and supports each member and allows them to fly. And to create this space while still providing the nuts and bolts of effective, heart-centered business.
Here’s a question: what’s the best-case scenario of where you can imagine your business being by June next year?
Now imagine the journey from here to there being filled with grace and ease, even through the bumps, because you have clear guidance and true support.
The folks who are jumping in early are starting in December instead of January, with an individual session as well as a group session, so they can make the best use of these last weeks of the year.
The amount of love and support available in true community is astounding. The three of us are will ground these groups in a sacred and strong way, to support you in community, in love and in allowing your business to fly in all the ways you hope it can.
So two things:
- If you know, or suspect, you really want this support, if you can feel it in your heart, if your business is asking for this help, why wait? Let’s take advantage of December, and help you to get started
- Yet don’t make the decision from panic, or scarcity, or the ticking of the calendar. Trust your heart. Respond from the place of knowing inside yourself.
Take a look at the three groups and see if one resonates for you, then fill out an application and let’s talk. The groups aren’t quite full, people have their applications in and are having conversations and weighing what’s true for them. This is not first come, first-served. This is about the right people in each group so everyone can fly.

And once you take a look, if you have any questions, please ask. With big appreciation and love, Mark

My goodness, you are enjoying yourself a hundred times more in the recent video! What a good reminder of what can happen with application over time. I am now enjoying doing social media so much compared with how it used to be two years ago, when I had resistance and struggles. Next year I want to be having as much fun doing seminars online, and to be really comfortable with using a whole new online platform.
Juliet- yes! It was so much more fun. And yes to enjoying social media! You are going to have so much fun with online seminars… I can see it!
Woo Hoo!!! Way to Go, Mark!!! Rock on!!! Your laugh before and after your punk song was so infectious!!! What an awesome relationship you have with your guitar. Can we put in requests please? π
To answer your questions:
1. I celebrate that in the last 2 years Ive established myself in a business that fully supports me financially.
2 In the next year, I would love to feel more relaxed at being visible and more relaxed connecting with people, Ive slowed down alot and made time to enjoy the connections I have with my clients, rather than getting the job done. And I would love to embrace that even more.
Kate- thanks! You can put in requests, but I don’t know if I can play them… π You have totally rocked your business, and I’m inspired by you feeling more relaxed at being visible and connecting. And enjoying! Woo-hoo!
Thanks, Mark. It’s a beautiful gift, so perfect for Thanksgiving. Thanks for reminding us to have a beginner’s mind, a child’s playfulness and the humility to learn. I’ve noticed that often people stay stagnant or playing a smaller game because they are afraid to step into the beginner’s place with the new stuff that they need to learn to play a bigger game. Also, the perfectionist sabotages us by judging ourselves or telling us to hide our gifts until we are “masters.” So this is a perfect gift, and I love that you have the courage and playfulness to share it. I watched the first one first and then watched the present one because I wanted to enjoy the growth, and it was heart-warming. It shows me that I can grow if I keep practicing and enjoying my practice instead of pushing myself. Happy Thanksgiving.
Maria- you are so welcome- thank you for enjoying it with me. Yes, great insight about needing to be humble before going bigger.
So many great lessons from this post, Mark! I really appreciated how you did your best each time and, with practice, the improvement was clear. I also noticed how you had fun in both videos and that the fun had more ease around it in the second video – which often comes with practicing.
Two years ago I started to shift my entire business model. I had just launched my book, The Secret Watch, and had no clue how that would turn out… or really even why I wrote it, except that it was a divine download that had to come into the world.
Today, I’m proud to say that the book is on several best seller lists, my own speaking and performing career has really taken off, and I get to do projects because I want to, not because I neeeeeeed to. It’s really a blessing.
The big takeaway for me is in staying the course, with joy, we also get to experience ease along the way.
Lisa- thank you! I so enjoy watching your singing videos- you are rockin’ it! And yes to staying the course.
Mark—LOVED both videos!!! I chuckle, and breathe, and relax my ‘striving’ to build BoomerWomanBucketList!! Thank you for the enjoyable teaching on ‘relax and let life evolve’!! My intention, by end of June 2015—-feel I am on track with Allah’s will for Boomer, both w/# clients served and $ coming in. Happening in a peaceful, joyfilled pace. Thank you for asking!!
Donna- thank you! So good to relax, and have fun, eh? And yes for June, God-willing, eh?
Mark, thanks for sharing, what an inspiration!
I’ve been thinking about perfection as I end some work I’ve been doing for over 10 years, and I’m beginning something brand new – and I have this picture in my mind of how I’m going to make this perfect thing happen. Already I’m discovering that it’s not that way in real life! There will be bumps, bad timings, off-keys, and not everyone will be perfectly happy with me. It’s turning out to be such a great lesson and humbling experience to notice this and grow with it. So that’s my answer to #2 on what I want to improve on in the coming year. π
My answer to #1 is that my comfort level negotiating and talking about money and business has grown so much in the last two years, one conversation at a time, and much thanks to Heart of Business.
Marki- glad it was inspiring and not frightening. π Right on – perfect focus for the new year. And so exciting to hear about your success and comfort about negotiating and talking about money and business! And so grateful and humbled that we could support you in that.
Hi Mark. This is so great and timely for me. I left full time employment 2 years ago, almost to the day, to do my private somatic psychotherapy practice full time. So much has changed in those two years. I’ve been doing lots of healing, undoing years and years of stress from agency based work and learning how to be a small business owner in the process. Feels like a big celebration to be making it work two years out. Feeling some movement out of that brand new beginner space and am trusting myself and the energetic flow more and more. This time next year I’d love to have gotten out into the world more. Writing and beginning to share that way. This year I added somatic coaching to my services and updated my website. More celebrations. Thanks for this fun teaching. Rock on.
Karin- woo-hoo! Two years of successful self-employment is worth a BIG celebration, for sure! And here’s to getting out in the world more with writing, among other things.
Mark– this made me reconnect with the beauty and potential of my own “perfectly imperfect celebrations and yearnings” Yes, oh how I love this! Love the messy. Great job communicating such an important message. Truly.
Kate- Thank you so much- and we so have to love the messy, don’t we? Fun!
Love it!! I’m so impressed. You really have improved in just 2 years. Amazing π Awesome job Mark.
