About two weeks ago I had a big insight that came in because of a comment someone made in our Spiritual Development Program. It got me thinking about my parents, myself, and my relationship to growing Heart of Business.
Basically, I saw a place where I was stuck, and something that I needed to face. I’m guessing it might be true for you, too. It’s where I was afraid to grow.
I made this video talking frankly about it, and the issues I see involved. It’s about 7 minutes, and if you’re struggling to grow your business, is probably a really well-spent 7 minutes.

Really appreciate you sharing your process–and fears–around development and growth in business, Mark. Your transparency and openness with this are a great gift–and a wonderful place of learning and modelling.
It’d be easy for me (floundering a bit here in the beginning stages of business), to imagine what you’re all doing as too distant, too unattainable. By sharing your process, you offer a reminder that it IS a process. One that is always unfolding…and will always have places of uncertainty and the unknown.
And, though I’m nowhere near the point of over-reaching capacity at present, the line “We/you are in the driver’s seat” is still very helpful–and calming–as my partner and I navigate new, uncertain waters with our business.
Dana! Yes! You are in the driver’s seat- and from where I sit, your business going into momentum is absolutely attainable, even if it takes a few years. Remember – we’ve been doing this since 2001. 🙂
Thanks Mark, this video hit home. It gives words to a process that I’ve been moving through, yet clumsily without seeing the process clearly. To really acknowledge, I am in control of my time, my business direction, pace, quality of connection, and more, is so empowering! Not naming it, I go through an arduous process that includes copious amounts of time & energy of the many voices of “what I should do.” Naming that “I am in control” lets me go more directly to sovereignty .
I’m going to tag this post, because I have the feeling I will benefit from re-visiting it from time to time. And thanks Steve for your behind-the-scenes part of this video 🙂
