Birthday squared!

twitter_0509_4Our boys, Sam and David, turn 7 years old today. Happy birthday, gentlemen!

In honor of their birthday, I’m not working today, but instead spending the day with family. I’m so grateful I can do this.

I will share two things:

1) Look for a special announcement tomorrow. I know we just finished promoting Heart-Centered Copywriting and that was not inexpensive. This is entirely different. It’s a Pay-From-The-Heart offer, meaning you set your own price, and it’s our gift to the community of heart-centered people in business. More details tomorrow!

2) Someone on our team made a mistake that had me writing a check for twice what it should have been. When that person told me about it, I referred to our Dropped Ball Policy. The exchange prompted me to post it to Facebook where it has garnered a huge number of shares, and an inquiry from someone who works in an industry where they want to inject more heart-centered policies.

It’s noteworthy to me partly because it’s a real heart-validation of where I am working more and more, helping people who are building up teams and small companies.

It also gets my attention because it reminds me: I have no clue what’s going to really capture someone’s attention. I had not one glimmer that this casual post would touch people’s hearts so much.

Lesson: Don’t share from “trying to get attention”- share from the heart. It’s an obvious, oft-repeated bit of advice, but one that I can always use a reminder for, because it’s so easy to get caught up in the ego-question, “What’s going to get attention?”

Sigh…

  1. I loved reading this–the newsletter version was a highlight in my morning email.

And love the “Dropped Ball Policy”…as well as the reminder of what beautiful, unexpected gifts and connections can come out of simply sharing from the Heart, without “trying to get attention.” Thank you!

  2. Love this idea and the concept of forgiving people for being human. Sometimes we get so carried away with the idea that mistakes are caused by laziness or sloppiness, as you said in your FB post. I think that’s just not true in most cases. We just miss things, and didn’t mean to mess up. I’m sure you’re employee was very grateful for your Dropped Ball Policy, and your understanding!
