[Video] The Power of Feedback + Systems

Mark SilverThis week, our Director of Education and Community Manager Steve Mattus digs into his speciality – the deep dive of listening deeply to the heart, and then creating systems to support following through with what your heart tells you.

He uses a personal and vulnerable example of a system he recently set up. I want to encourage you to take the time to let this video soak in. The intersection between heart and systems is so critical to having a livable, lovable, thriving business.

Take a look:

Steve is curious, and so am I — when you listen deeply, what do you hear? And what are the beginnings of a system that will support following through with what you hear?

If you have questions or need help, please ask in the comments! Steve is amazing with this.

p.s. Systems is one third of making your business livable.

Steve is going to be the lead teacher for the segment on systems in Accelerating Growth, which starts in May. He’s so incredible—I’ve personally learned a huge amount from him about how to think in systems, how to think systems through, and when *not* to implement systems to preserve the heart.

If your business is hitting limits of capacity, or income ceilings, or you’re just plumb exhausted by it, I’m thinking that Accelerating Growth may be what you’re needing.

  1. Good Morning Mark and Steve,

I recently finished Heart of Money and joined HoB Facebook group, and am so grateful for this community.

Great topic and example of working from the heart and getting support.
I am a great fan of color coding and used it plenty when I was in business as a professional organizer.

But I really like the take on it here, as a whole new level of awareness.

    So inspirational!

    Thank You.

    From the Heart,
    Catherine

    1. Thanks Catherine! Yay for awareness and inspiration! Glad it landed…. and it’s amazing to have you in the Community with us. Your presence is heartwarming.

  2. What an incredible video, Steve. I really liked the example you gave as it broke it down for me to find ways to approach what feels unclear in my business. I am not sure ‘how’ to implement this yet but am going to be saving this video so I can go back and create a simple systematic path for myself as I just start out with my business and getting clients.

    1. Thanks Daniela! Simple is key! Note: I’ve been working on a sustainable eating plan for a decade plus. I’ve been working diligently on it for almost a year…. and this “middle way” system JUST now finally came through. Sometimes, it takes time for the right system to come through and LOTS of iterations before one really lands. You’ll get there…. gentle, gentle. 🙂

  3. This is so great! Thank you Steve!!!!! So accessible and relatable, and so clearly applicable, possible and real. (PS Three cheers for the middle way!)

  4. Thanks for this example, Steve. One more thing to love about Heart of Business: the awareness I get from seeing that this focus on systems comes as a LATER stage in solopreneurship. I’m great at creating systems! Did so multiple times in my paid work pre-graduate school.

Ah, but what is the business of my business those systems can be applied to? And why does figuring that out make me so verklempt?

That’s where Heart of Business has been a lifesaver for me. Through your programs I’ve been better able to see just where I am in my business creation; and where I am not — yet!

    1. Beautiful nuance to notice, Victoria! Thank you! That can be such a frustrating place to be – trying to create systems for a “machine” that’s not ready yet. They often do come in time. Simple systems can be supportive in the beginning, but some need a more mature business. Great subtlety to notice!

  5. Such a stellar model you offer, Steve—of checking in, listening to what’s working and what’s needed, and then creating a system that works for YOU. Something that you create and implement from a place of such mindfulness and clarity. Something that helps you feel supported, has a clear structure, doesn’t take much time, and keeps you very aware and present in the process.

Totally fantastic…and totally inspiring. I’ll be drawing on this for guidance and inspiration as I seek to create new systems to support me in my business. Thank you!

    1. WOOHOO!!!! Right on, Dana. I wouldn’t be here without your support… so the gratitude is returned for providing such a supportive, loving place for me to do this work.

  6. Thanks, Steve. I love the idea that a truly supportive system arises organically out of analyzing one’s unique goals and situation, rather than being something imposed from outside that you are “supposed” to do and is “supposed” to work.

    1. You’re so welcome, Susan! Yes… those dreaded “supposed to’s” – yuck! What a relief to allow them to arise organically. Glad you enjoyed this!
