What “Love is stronger than anything” really means.

Life here in the U.S. is hard, and it’s probably going to get harder. (If you’re not in the U.S., I’m so sorry for how much our country is affecting the globe…)

There are incredibly destructive political and economic forces in motion through our federal government- and although one person has been the focus for all of this, the truth is that the mechanisms for what have been happening have been planned for and put in place over decades, with many people in power collaborating on it.

In the face of all of this, I want myself, and you, and all of us to remember that when we say “love is more powerful” we don’t mean love in a greeting-card, nice-nice kind of way.

What I mean by “Love is more powerful” is the annihilating love the Sufis talk about, that asks us to love each other, and to love the best in each of us, fiercely. That calls us to care so deeply that we show up with each other.

It’s a love that doesn’t cede the breadth of one atom to hatred, to illusion, to those who are not cherishing all of us.

Let love burn like a wildfire in our hearts. We fan the flames of it so that we see only love, hear only love, take only from love, and give only to love.

And that we see the face of the Creator in everything, and may it inspire us to the point where we have no other choice, no other will, than to show up for each other, to be the earth for each other over and over and over again.

This fierce, annihilating love is at the heart of your business. It’s at the heart of all organizing. It’s at the heart of all that we do to express a more nourishing, powerful, loving, just way of being in this world.

This annihilating love gives rise to strategy, because it weaves a tapestry of strong relationships among those who cherish each other, and then we collaborate in that cherishing in ways that protect the vulnerable, and lift up what we most yearn for.

Those who seek power, those who are fascinated by tyranny, always underestimate the power of the people to weave this tapestry of love, and care, and justice.

Do not abandon your business in all of this. Your heart, and your care, and skills and experience are part of this tapestry of love.

Don’t let go. Don’t let go.

with love,
