In the face of terror, finding both love and justice

Hey there, beloved,

I’m hearing from a lot of people who are feeling fear, encountering fear. The terrorist acts in Beirut and Paris, as well as a hundred other places we may never hear of, weigh heavily on the heart.

Tomorrow is the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving, which, I mentioned earlier this week, has very painful origins and history.

When faced with grief, we need to grieve. When faced with fear, we need to find space for fear. And then, we need to ask, “Is love available even here?”.

I led a guided Remembrance for our Community on Monday on this topic, and I wanted to share it with you as well.

We’re out of the office for the U.S. holiday these next four days. Oh people of good heart, let us please care for one another, that you can remind me, and I can remind you that when we wish to take action, that we take care that it come not from the reactive vengeance that we can all be at risk to falling into, but from a compassionate, loving justice.
