I just wanted to put this post up so that folks who are in the latest live Heart of Money course, or who have taken it in the past, can share their experiences, fantastic or ugly, all unedited. Our only requirement is that you post with your name – not anonymously. That allows us to appreciate the heart of the one who posted, and, in cases where things didn’t work for someone, it allows us to reach out and fix things as we’re able.

Hi, this is James. I currently live in Sydney, Australia and am relatively new to Mark’s work. The Heart of Money course is my first direct experience of Heart of Business teachings and so far it’s working really well for me.
Before I did the Heart of Money course, I was aware that
I usually have great intentions of writing up a testimonial for someone and then I get totally sidetracked, worry about how to say what I feel about their class, and then it ends up on the never-done list. So today I’m just going to jump right in and say what comes directly from my heart.
I am an accountant. I run a successful bookkeeping service. I have been working with Mark and Heart of Business for years and I spent all of 2008 working closely with Mark. I’ve accumulated a ton of practical knowledge about money and I’ve got a ton of personal experience to back up the practicalities. I’ve also been on a deeply spiritual path for the vast majority of my life.
And yet…
This course, The Heart of Money Transformational Journey, has brought about some of the most profound and most effective internal changes I’ve ever experienced with money.
The Guidance and essence of this course is beyond words. While I may have already known so much about money, there is just so much more to experience and taste when it comes to the real connections that our relationships with money can allow into our lives.

I am so grateful to Mark and the Heart of Business staff for what is being in the Heart of Money Transfomational Journey. For me personally this course has begun a healing and transformation in the area of my relationship to money as well as to myself, my partner, and to the Divine.
I will not lie…there have been some things that came up for me that I have kept locked away because it would have been painful to look at them…things like where I have been entitled with money, careless with money, where money has been the object of intense power struggles with my partner, where I have been in scarcity or avoidance about money…I could go on! But how freeing to be able to look at these things with such support and compassion from Mark and the partners that I have had in this course. In other words, how I have “been” with money has a lot to do with how I have “been” as a person….I am grateful to be able to have the teachings from this course recorded and I plan to come back to it again and again.
Also, my business has been steadily growing throughout this course….without any external change in my marketing…it seems related to my willingness to open my heart to these teachings and then it seems that the healing and abundance that I am receiving is flowing out into the world. Just one example….my teaching partner called last week to say that a workshop we were scheduled to teach this week had only one person enrolled (my partner has been doing the interfacing with the facility sponsoring this workshop). We decided that if there were enough enrollments for a small class that he would teach it without me because I taught the last one. I took the class off of my calendar and even scheduled a client during that time—all the while praying to be shown how I could be of more service in my work. My teaching partner called back this week to say that the enrollments had been coming in that he suggested to the facility that they cap enrollments at 30! We have never had to set a cap before. I cannot stress enough that I did nothing on the outer to “create” this result in the last week; it was no longer on my radar!…I really believe that it has to do with my willingness to heal my heart and take loving, conscious action around money.
I cannot recommend this course highly enough!
I am currently in the Heart of Money course, and wholeheartedly agree with the other comments already posted. I’m having similar experiences. That part of the course name, Transformational Journey–that’s it in a gigantic nutshell.
Though I have yet to see an increase in business, I know that it’s inevitable. The biggest unexpected bonus so far, is getting clear on what I want to offer in my business, and how to refine and market it. I’ve been stalled out here for a few years, and during the last year started several new projects attempting to figure it out, ending up overwhelmed and burnt out. I’ve been naturally streaming insights and getting ideas and painting like crazy (!) as I do the course.
The course work that we’re using to look at money issues is shining a huge beautiful light on every area of my life with positive effect. I didn’t know my heart was so closed off, I really didn’t. If you feel called to take this course, as I did, please do take it. And if you take the home study version, please arrange to have partners to work with through the exercises. The partner work has been extraordinary and illuminating and healing, like the entire course.

Two months ago, I was constantly terrified.
Sometimes I was able to bury it under the surface, but it would rear its head at horrible times. I would fight with Kyeli about personal and business expenses, and I would randomly flip out in terror of what might happen if the Freak Revolution wasn’t profitable enough soon enough.
Today, I’m at peace.

Okay…I feel drawn to take part but have two concerns.
Firstly, I’m worried that I don’t have a real life study partner to share this experience with. I live in Brisbane and feel it would be wonderful to have someone or a few someones to work with.
Secondly, I’m worried that I don’t have a real life business to work on. I am in the process of defining what I’m going to do, how I’m going to do it, when etc etc. I have enough money to survive for another 18 months without working at all…but need to begin now so that I’ll be in flow and action by the end of 2010.
@Fiona- I’m glad you’re drawn, and let’s see what I can say. The first thing is that the partner exercises are definitely helpful, but not absolutely necessary. Some folks are choosing not to use partners, and they are still receiving benefit.
And, if you are looking for people to connect with who are engaged with Heart of Business material, I want to invite you to check out The Business Oasis. It’s an active online community, and many people there, we have a number of Australians, have built relationships with each other to give and receive support in working with the materials.
As for your second question, the Heart of Money is the one course we have the doesn’t require you have a business to work on. Folks are taking it who are in jobs, or aren’t even involved in work. Because it focuses solely on the relationship with money, there is nothing in there that works with practical “how-to’s” around building your business. That’s another course, which is coming up in late September.

I’ve always had trouble with money. I’ve always earned enough…but just barely enough. And I’ve always spent just a little more than I had.
Which didn’t bother me when I was 20 years old with all my working life ahead of me. But the accumulated debt was soul-dampening, mind-absorbing, and spirit-sucking when I hit 40 and realized half of my working life had passed with little to show for it.
Which is frustrating. An “I must be a total mess to have gotten myself into this total mess” kind of frustrating. All anger and shame and self-loathing. All problem-minded with no end in sight.
So along with my unproductive money habits, there was my unproductive self-talk about my unproductive money habits! Because I knew better but didn’t do better. Round and round for many many years…anger shame self-loathing anger shame self-loathing…
And now it’s (mostly) gone.
From the start of this course, it was clear that my money issues weren’t something I could think my way out of. I had been thinking on them for years and it hadn’t got me very far, right? I’d reflect on my spending mistakes with regret and make excruciatingly detailed plans for spending and saving in the future.
What I’d never done until Heart of Money was sit with my money issues in the present. Just sit. And breathe. And assess my emotions—instead of my numbers—to see where the trouble was/is. And I learned I’m not dumb or stubborn or lazy or wasteful. I was (and sometimes still am) afraid and wary and overly-concerned with loss…which has some odd byproducts, I tell ya!
That may sound a little woowoo? But here’s the thing: If Mark hadn’t worked us with the woowoo, the practical guidance he shared later would have been just any ol’ money management class. It would have been useful for the head but totally unused by the heart. Like other money management classes I’ve taken, I’d have listened lots, taken in little, and done not much.
But with Mark’s class, I listened lots, took in lots, and acted every week. I couldn’t attend the live classes because of my schedule, but the MP3s were great. I did all the reading and assignments, and (sometimes) the homework. I partnered with other students, too, which was enriching…so good to hear others striving and thriving through their struggles! And I listened to the MP3s again. And again.
After 7 weeks, I’m much less afraid about losing anything (or everything). When the anxiety starts to bubble up I have means to manage it. When my debt starts to overwhelm me, I can deal with that, too.
My headspace is so, so open now. Creative juices are flowing again and I sleep like a stone.
Such a relief. Such a relief.
Week 7 of Heart of Money. Ditto to much of what has been said above… but wait! There’s more.
Practically every day I find myself applying one of the teachings or exercises from this class to some situation completely unrelated to money or finances.
Without going into detail :), I’ve applied Mark’s exercises to essentially any situation or issue that brings up feelings of fear, anxiety, overwhelm, panic… including things like relationship conflict, body image unhappiness, decisions that need to be made, (posting a comment here), etc.
And, every time, the insights and guidance I’ve received have been so loving and affirming.
More than anything else, this course has given me tools that are helping me deepen my relationship with myself. For that, gratitude overflows.
Heart of Money is so much larger than finances (and, believe me, finance/money stuff is big enough on its own). There is no end to the practical application of the teachings and exercises contained in this course.
If this course in any way calls to you, I sincerely ask you to take the time with your heart and see if it is right for you. You will know if it is.

I should have looked more closely at the date of this post! Didn’t realize it went all the way back to 2009. Well I hope you had a wonderful experience with the course!
Well, I’m a bit behind, as our course ended in August and now it’s almost October! Mark may not even want/need any more comments since he’s launched his latest course – and my husband is in it as well. But here goes anyway!
For me this course has a wonderful quality to it that I call ‘The Mystery’. That being, that during it I started to see increased enrollments in my retreats and coaching business that came not from more efforts, more Doing – but from my effort and commitment with this practices. I noticed less tension in me and more trusting that when I show up with my Jewel shining – in other words, fully being my True self, life is more fun, and I’m more successful.
I am grateful for the teachings and the modeling Mark does of being who he is (Great!). A # of participants from my class were so jazzed that we have formed a group and are repeating the exercises again — persistence and continued support of what works are 2 things I know that always help my business grow and bring me more peace inside.

Hi to all you amazing people who’ve posted such transparent and mindful words. I happened on Marks website as I have to do a completion project for a psychotherapy course I took – wait for it – twenty two years ago… and didn’t complete. Huh! Years not months. I now want to complete this course, and have been given the opportunity to do so. The project I want to do is around money, so naturally I used the web to find tips. And I fell upon this course! My history around money, relationships, work – and I’m not 40 – I’m now 65, has been pretty dreadful – perhaps like a 16 year old not wanting to grow up and take responsibility, and still in denial regarding my relationship with money, where and how I live – presently living off a UK state pension, and some savings – only I can’t really call them savings as that money is the result of selling my home ten years ago, and what is left.
I’m writing this for myself, but would welcome any follow up comments – and I shall now get the home study course.
This course was fantastic. It took me from being full of anxiety to having more freedom to address many issues around my finances directly and also around myself and my relationship with the Divine.
I am well aware that my personal beliefs and perceptions influence what’s possible and this course has allowed me to see and experience new ways of being with my personal finances and with my business. This course allowed me to see more of my limiting beliefs and develop a new relationship with them. I recognize this is a journey, and but I feel like I have new insights and practices that are pointing me in a new direction.
The partners I had were all an integral part of the power of this program. I really appreciate the way you have designed this into the course. In addition, Mark, I so appreciate your way of being, your compassion, wisdom, and knowledge. I feel a resonance with your values and way of doing business. Thank you. Namaste.
I was uncertain whether I wanted to take the Heart of Money course. So I emailed Mark about my situation and asked his advice. He very kindly empathized with my predicament, and told me he didn’t want to tell me what to do. He ended his email with, “what is your heart saying?”
At the time, I didn’t even know I could communicate with my heart! But I took the class anyway, and I am so glad I did! What Mark suggested in his question seemed to me to be his approach in teaching. He is there to offer the teachings and guidance, and what seemed to give him the most joy was to see the students walk the walk and discover for themselves the lessons.
I thought the class structure was highly effective and thoughtful:
1). Weekly tele seminar. Starting with a warm Welcome by Mark, addressing concerns and questions. I always appreciate the Remembrance practice that followed, which I felt anchored and synchronized participants. Mark would present the lesson for the week, and lead the class into an exercise. Participants would share their experiences of the exercise. Then Mark would discuss assignment for the next week and wrap-up.
2). Partner exercises. This was the most powerful part of the class for me! I am blown away by the level of trust, openness and commitment of everyone to help each other that are fostered in these exercises. Most of my insights have come from working with my partners, being there for each other and holding the space, reflecting, sharing insights. Most of all, I didn’t feel alone in my struggle and found the support tremendously uplifting. I felt completely buzzed with energy after each session!
3). Q&A. I also thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the written Q&A portion of the class. Each week, a written assignment reflecting on what I learned helped me track my progress. Any questions I had, Mark would thoroughly and thoughtfully answer in the weekly Q&A PDFs. Reading my classmates’ questions and Mark’s answers to them gave me different perspectives.
Weekly assignments have do-able actions that can be put into practice. It is true what you put into the class is what you get out of it. I have seen improvements not only in my relationship to finance, but all across the board with regard to spirituality, relationships, health, etc. I learned to improve my communicating, listening and reflecting skill. I also experienced the awesome humility and honor of holding space for someone and watching her go through a struggle and discovers for herself spontaneous insights! Most of all, I learned to prioritize my life in a meaningful way. I am finding that it is effortful to commit to such priorities, but it is a worthwhile endeavor!
I wish to thank Mark for his gentleness, groundedness, compassion and clarity. The way in which he provides a safe space for students to learn and grow is wondrous!
I also wish to thank my partners for being mirrors for each other. The support and encouragement helped me persevere through the toughest times!
If you have a desire to change your relationship
with your finance, or any area in your life, this may be a suitable class. I took a leap of faith and my heart now rejoices for it! What is your heart saying?
Part of me went, not another class! Yet I am so grateful I jumped in. With some of the stickier issues around having assets and liabilities – debt, I came to a greater place of contentment. What was most rewarding was to be able to turn around some pattern imprints that were still running the show.
Heart of Money provided the grounding and gentle support for me to move from paralysis to taking small new steps. My faith was regained. I let go of the desire to have a quick fix, win the lottery, and to enjoy the journey – even the uncomfortable parts. I remembered past incredible successes that took me many years before they came to fruition. I remembered that I have always been taken care of by Spirit. I remembered the brilliant creative solutions that have always been part of my life.
I am grateful for the teachings and particularly for the veil of safety that has allowed me to stand in my sovereignty and others have mentioned this about seeing more of me emerge.

I am very happy with the changes in my outlook regarding money after taking Mark Silver
I took the “Heart of Money Transformational Journey” class w/Mark over two years ago and sometimes I can still feel the learning and experiences unfolding.
Here’s the nutshell:
I learned a lot, even stuff that really surprised me about myself and my beliefs about money;
a couple of classmates became friends, one became a client;
since the class, my income has steadily increased, which, of course, is lovely, but how the techniques I learned have affected my spending habits and informed my discernment when it came to making financial decisions has provided me with incredible amounts of relief (emotionally and financially).

I just finished The Heart of Money class and it was indeed a beautiful journey of transformation. I’ve always had issues around my finances and it got to the point where I avoided dealing with my finances as much as possible.
This class helped me get over my fears about dealing with money and having enough that were causing my avoidance. I had a number of big epiphanies during the class which led to huge shifts – financially, emotionally, and spiritually. I emerged from this experience with an entirely different relationship with money and I no longer find it painful or difficult to deal with.
This class was by far, one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my business and in my life. It was deep, powerful, and transformative.

I have just completed the Heart of Money Journey and I am feeling in such a place of Reverance. I’m halfway through the Heart of Money homestudy, and I’ve already noticed some huge shifts. I’m finding it much easier to *take* money and opportunities when they’re offered, as well as *receive* money when it is given (ha! I didn’t even realise there was a difference before Mark explained them).
I look forward to doing the live course. I think having the partner exercises will be really helpful and supportive.
I just finished the Heart of Money 2013 class. All I can say is: outstanding! Mark’s wisdom, compassion, and support all serve to create a solid context for change. On the calls, Mark is so present, it feels like he is sitting right next to you. If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend this class.
I’ve taken a number of programs about money. I’ve learned a lot of techniques and have a HUGE toolbox of useful ways to do money better. I’ve even offered programs to help clients develop better relationships with their money. And, all of it works – to some extent.

A huge thank you to Mark and the Heart of Business team, first for making Heart of Money Transformational Journey affordable for me and second for holding space around such a tender topic. I feel that I’ve only scratched the surface of my relationship with money and now I have the tools to go even deeper, through material I can return to again and again. I’ve discovered – paradoxically – that the anxiety of trying to start businesses several times over the last few years has been shutting me down creatively (I’m a writer), so I am changing my focus to finding a regular old job – to have true “free time” to spend writing. My business, income and relationship with money have gone through major transformations since starting coursework with Heart of Business. This coursework began with Foundations 1 & 2, followed by the Copywriting Home Study. Most recently, the Heart of Money offered a beautiful opportunity to name and consolidate places of change…as well as to gain clarity around further areas of exploration and work.
My participation in Heart of Money also overlapped me taking on a larger role in my partner’s and my finances. As such, it was an invaluable source of support, grounding and perspective. Without it, I would have felt quite alone and adrift in that experience.
Coming out of the course, I feel more solid and grounded in my relationship with finances than ever before. For me, a huge part of this was learning—and experiencing—the value of transparency and clarity when it comes to finances, along with placing this clarity within a more expansive perspective.
In the past, I often put financial stuff in a “black box” and felt no connection between money and all that’s most important to me, including spiritual practice. The result? Anxiety, fear and hopelessness. Heart of Money has been a tremendous help in shifting away from that old pattern and toward a more spacious, ease-filled reality.
As a nice “bonus,” my income has consistently hit or exceeded my targeted monthly minimum since starting Heart of Money. This marks a new, upward trend in my earnings over the past two years and is the direct result of Heart of Business work and coaching, culminating in the Heart of Money course. So much gratitude! And so much faith in the Heart of Business process!
I am nearing the end of the Heart of Money program and I have found it helpful in two rather unexpected ways.
1) I am pretty good with money myself. I keep up with my accounting – appreciating the money that comes in, and making pretty conscious choices about debt that I feel are “wise”.
And I’m in relationship with someone that I thought shared similar values. But I recently had a big and unpleasant shock about that. To complicate matters, there is a third party involved who I sense has rather different values and priorities. This situation has been going on for years, and I’ve felt pretty helpless about it.
Through some of the exercises in the Heart of Money course, I’ve found a couple of ways that I can take effective and appropriate steps in the situation with my partner – steps that respect the other people involved and that also respect me and my needs. I finally feel more of a sense of appropriate empowerment in the situation. I’m very grateful.
2) So far in my life, money has not been a big challenge. But time has. I’ve felt since I was a child that there has never been enough time.
In one of the later exercises in the Heart of Money course, there was a more open-ended invitation to use the exercise with anywhere you were wanting more abundance. On a whim, I tried doing it with this issue of time.
Again, the exercise resulted in clarity about a next step for me to take, which has led to some very significant insights for me – and the first day I’ve taken completely off in more than a year.
So if there is any area in your life where you are experiencing scarcity and wanting more abundance, you might find this program surprisingly helpful.
I’m now curious to go back and do some of the earlier exercises on “my” topic of time.
I dropped out of the class because I did not feel it was a safe environment, nor a good learning environment, for me.
There was not enough respect for privacy in the setup of the class. You could only get a partner if you were willing to share your name, phone number and email address with the whole class. There could easily have been a better way to handle that process that did not require people to expose their personal information to everyone in the group.
Aside from the partnering, there was no way to share experiences with other people in the group. There was also mostly one-way communication in the class from Mark to the group but very little opportunity for real communication the other way around. There should have been a Facebook group or online discussion board for this class. If you needed to charge more in order to have that, you should have charged more.
It bothered me that we were asked to submit very personal responses in the homework and the only thing said about what would happen with those comments was that you were asked whether or not you’d be willing to have them used as a testimonial.
When I did raise procedural questions, the response was just a quoting of the FAQ page where the answer supposedly was, but the answer was NOT there and I had to ask again. This happened twice, so it was not an aberration.
I also feel it’s highly inappropriate to ask class members for mostly positive feedback. I never felt during the course like the points I am raising here would have been welcome. I strongly suggest being much more open to students’ real experiences, and negative comments as well as positive ones.
And last, the class was in fact religious rather than spiritual in nature. It really bothered me to have a sectarian opening to each class and to be asked to look into various tenets of Islam during the course. I don’t feel I had enough information about this point prior to joining the course.
I am sorry to be unable to cite any positive benefit from having signed up for this class except that it taught me a lot about how not to run a class.
I have struggled with resistance throughout this course. I have had some interesting information that has come through the different practices and some of the struggles has lead me to do some other work which has also highlighted more for me. So I have been pleased to have been part of this course to start me opening up further than I have been before. I plan to go through the course again a little more slowly & listen to some of the extra Q & A classes, that I didn’t find time for this first time around. Thank you Mark for getting this work out into the world
I loved this course, and it came at a perfect time. I especially appreciate the pay from the heart structure. I could see how it would bring abundance to Heart of Business, and how it made much needed information available to me at a time when I don’t have much disposable income. The biggest gift of the course for me was really coming to understand the need for structure in my business, so that flow (of communication, of money, of people) can do its thing – flow! toward source. And I am not source, I’m just a waystation on the journey. My business needs to have structure. I totally get it. Thank you thank you thank you.
Having just completed the 8 week course, “Heart of Money”, I am finding that many old beliefs about money are beginning to lose power over my financial life and my spiritual life is recharging especially with the tool of “Remembrance” as taught with the course. As a Life, Spirit, Wellness Coach and Artist, I am feeling more confident about attracting clients who are looking for assistance in managing their lives and about putting my drawings and photos out for show and purchase. Actually, have just gotten a note of a Pastel Art show to enter.
I didn’t have any particular money issues when I started this course, only that I knew I felt really uncomfortable about money and avoided dealing with it other than what was absolutely necessary for living. I didn’t feel that it was possible to have a relationship with money that I was morally comfortable with.
How wrong I was! The teachings in this course really helped me shift my attitude to one where I felt comfortable dealing with money, and not like money is something evil which I should have nothing to do with.
I want to start a small business at some point and this has been a great way to sort out my relationship with money before I have to start dealing with it as part of running a business.
I really appreciated Mark’s gentle and non-judgmental approach, and I felt that during the coaching calls he created a really safe space for people. I never asked a question during the calls but a fair few things that other people asked about really resonated with me.
I didn’t ask for a partner as I couldn’t commit to the time it would involve, but I still got so much out of this course.
The only thing I would change is how and Q and A is presented on the website, but I have already fed this back via the assignment page.

The true humility that is being advocated and embodied by Marc I found very refreshing, resulting in feelings of relief and unburdening.
I feel much more relaxed with money issues in general now, and know what kind of work I can do when I bump up against something.

I am just finishing up the Heart of Money course and can fully recommend it. It has brought about deep transformation for me – letting go of old pain and beliefs that were holding me back from stepping more fully into who I am. It has given me a new understanding and experience of my relationship with the Divine and with myself and as a result with money. The tagline for this course should be, “Prepare to be surprised, willing or not!” Like some of the other persons who have taken this course, money was off the radar for me, something to be dealt with only as necessary but inherently bad. Who knew that working with money was another doorway to the interior of my heart? I was surprised by what I didn’t know about my assets and what I didn’t know about my attitude about debts. Huge insights. I am still digesting the second half of the course. I look forward to more insights arising. One step forward I have taken is to do a mini-review of the course when a bank statement comes. No longer do I throw it aside. Now I look forward to reconciling the statement and starting the process of thinking about where I am with money NOW, the flows of the past month, facing the assets and the debts, remembering the priorities, utilizing the veil of safety if I need it and looking for the deeper meanings that money is pointing to in my life. As if that were not enough, the spiritual Sufi aspect of this program puts it all in proper perspective and order. The question, “Is there room enough for Love, even here?,” will resonate throughout my life. This course is simply astonishing.

I was so happy when I found this course, it was just what I was looking for but couldn’t find anywhere. There’s so much out there about money, but it all feels like surface work. Working with money the way Mark does is so healing. It’s a lot like what I do with my clients around food and cravings, so I took to it like a duck to water.
For the first time in a long time, I found myself having hope about repaying my student loans when there was no hope before the course. I have a new relationship with money and debt and will continue to work with the principles for more healing and transformation.
My only regret is that I didn’t take this course sooner. If you’re thinking about taking the course, and you are drawn to deep work, do it.

I have found the course really useful even though it came at a time when I had too much going on that was really stressful, so I haven’t been able to give it as much attention as it deserved. It was great to find someone with business experience who clearly comes from deeply ethical principles. (I know you would say ‘spiritual’, Mark, but I’m still struggling a bit with that. I deeply respect your beliefs and have found a lot of the teaching quite inspiring – there was nothing I could disagree with – but I don’t feel comfortable yet using that language.)
I need to go back over all the lessons now and start redoing the doable actions. I will sign up for the Foundations 1 course in a month or two as I couldn’t give it the time it deserves just at present.
I was grateful for the pay what you can basis but was unpleasantly surprised by an almost £60 extra charge on my phone bill – and more still to come! I had used the number I had been directed to in which I thought I was getting the calls free. Obviously I had misunderstood, but maybe this could be made clearer. Also the reminder email a couple of weeks ago would have been more helpful if it had referred to the change of time in the subject heading – our clocks only went forward this last weekend. I had rushed home to listen to the call and it was almost over when I dialled in.
But these are small matters compared with the value of what I have received from the course, so thank you Mark and the rest of the team.
Hi Ann- I’m so sorry to hear about the phone bills! We tried to make it clear that there were web-based ways to access the calls for free, but otherwise usual long-distance charges applied. Sigh. I’m honored that you want to continue into Foundations1 despite the phone charges. There is a way to avoid those.
The time change is definitely another place where we can all get tripped up. We’ll be more pro-active next time.
I had been wanting to take The Heart of Money for several years, so I leapt at the chance when it became available this past January, even though the timing wasn’t the best fit for me and my plate was already full. My heart knew I needed this course, and I’m so glad I followed my guidance.
This course has positively impacted me on many levels. It deepened my spiritual connection, which has played out in all areas of my life. I also feel less pressured to overgive and overdo. Mark’s words, “What you have to offer is enough” keep flowing in my head, reminding me that my job is to show up and do my part. The results, thank goodness, are not up to me.
I gained so much courage and healing in facing some very painful situations with money and some very strong emotions that arose with them! I appreciate how Mark structured the course so I felt safe enough to do this. I cried a lot of tears, faced a lot of frustration and anger, and felt encouraged by Mark’s leadership and gentle guidance to simply be with whatever was arising in my heart and body in the exercises. It was very healing and nurturing.
Surprisingly, one of the most vulnerable aspects of the course was not facing my liabilities and debts, but facing my assets and opening to greater connection, interdependence, and abundance. I have seen how this opening to abundance has continued to play itself out in my business, and in my life after the course. I feel a greater sense of safety and protection, something above and beyond how much money I have in the bank. I have frankly been the recipient of some remarkable and surprising gifts – wow. And I have felt much more comfortable moving through all the modes of flow. Rather than just relying on giving, I’m also asking and reaching out for help, receiving help, making offers, and taking gifts when they’re offered.
This class encouraged me to nurture my business and finances in ways I hadn’t been doing before. As others have mentioned, I feel excited to do financial tasks now that I would previously avoid due to overwhelm and anxiety. I’ve installed and begun using a business planning/budgeting tool that I’ve wanted to use for years. I feel more comfortable holding onto money, too, and saving rather than giving it all away to pay bills. It feels good to feel more conscious and more courageous with money.
The last piece that I’ve noticed has been an interesting paradox. Since doing the course, my desire for things and material goods has softened. I feel less driven to buy something or spend money when I’m feeling distressed, powerless, or stressed.
At the same time, I appreciate what I do have so much more! I feel this tenderness towards what I’ve been given, this great appreciation and gratitude. I feel grateful to care for myself, my family and my home. It’s as if this course turned my heart towards what I most deeply care about – connection. As I feed that connection, the material goods become less important. A part of life, yes, but not what my heart truly yearns for. My heart has moments of deep rest, where I feel content.

I have been following Mark for quite a few years. I even lived in Portland, Oregon at the same time as Mark. When the Heart of Money course was offered at a pay from the heart last Fall, to start this January, I went for it. My heart led me to this. I have always admired the spiritual focus of the Heart of Business.
As a Reform Sikh, I have many of my own practices and I am also a Sound Healer, so I have my own chanting. So, I was pleasantly surprised that I learned some lovely new-to-me techniques that I now use daily. Remembrance and the Veil of Safety. WOW WOW WOW!

I’m about to start the final call for the Heart of Money Workshop today, in a couple hours. I can honestly say that in the last 8 weeks I have learned so serious life skills when it comes to my relationship with money. I’m not a business owner. I’m just an artist/gig economist/ person in my early thirties who feels a little stuck waiting tables. Throughout this course I’ve been able to reframe the way I feel about being in debt, how comfortable I can be with knowing I actually need money, and how to let money rest instead of spending it all as soon as it comes in. I didn’t really understand what the course would be like since it was my first program here, and first online program ever. Unfortunately I felt a little misled about what transpired. I thought there would be live teachings and live Q&A. But actually I realized that the teachings are pre-recorded from one session in the past. You are supposed to listen to them and follow along in the workbook on your own time. Those resources are GREAT. The live calls are a remembrance led together followed by a Q & A session- totally one hour long. And this is where I lost interest. I felt like listening to everyone’s questions dragged on and on. It was like listening to someone’s therapy session for an hour- way too much for me, and I didn’t have the interest to stay tuned. I thought it was great to be able to submit questions each week and have them responded to, which unfortunately I was unable to fully partake in, but to me, that should be the bulk of Q&A opportunity- and perhaps then provided weekly as a document someone can scan for relevant questions to them, as has been provided for past years. I was glad it was by donation because that feels appropriate for the offerings here. The work done is valuable but to me, it could have just as easily been a take-home pre-recorded course with live support as needed- and that is how I approached it because the live calls were actually kind of disturbing for me, for my peace and quiet of mind… and my husband too who listened in on one call with me and left early because he couldn’t take more. I think there is a variety of people with different capacities and places in their lives to digest this material. There should be support for all of them, but I don’t feel I need to witness that process. I also got the feeling from Mark that his enthusiasm and presence was not there in the same vibrant way as it was in the pre-recorded class. Like he felt “routine” and “bored”. I could be wrong Mark, perhaps you got some bad news that day, but I felt a little sad when I listened and had these interpretations. While at the same time, maybe that is something in your experience and signaling that things need to shift? Other than this, I felt the course content is very fine. The lectures are not just about money but also about sufi spiritualism. At times this felt intrusive on my own personal practice, which is more Hindu/Yoga based. I feel these concepts are universal but it took some “translating” on my part to open it up to that level. I valued the money-spirituality link, not the sufism teachings. Still, I feel the heart is in the right place and FAR beyond where most conversations about money land. It is a special opportunity to end the segregation of spirituality and money and I highly value that. Thank you!

First of all, I want to offer a deep thank you to Mark for the powerful teachings that he has offered throughout the eight weeks that I have been taking the course. It has been a truly spiritually deepening experience, and although I have known for many years that I was in the grip of what I call a “poverty mentality,” I feel that this course has given me the tools to successfully shift at a deep level.
In the calls, I could always hear in Mark’s voice his commitment, his thoughtfulness, and his own deep seeking for an appropriate response. I could also hear the sense of responsibility he must feel in responding appropriately — it is a heavy burden to carry when one is dealing with responding to others’ struggles with their painful memories and beliefs. I have appreciated very much Mark’s thoughtful and non-judgemental responses to my questions (and I had some challenging ones, I know). So, thank you for putting financial issues into a spiritual framework in a way that I can understand and use. Many thanks and blessings.
Just a couple of other small comments about the structure of the website. At first, I wasn’t clear that questions about the course needed to be submitted on Mondays, as some pages on the website said Tuesday mornings were the time they were due. It took me a while to figure out that it was likely that the phone calls had been done on a different day of the week in previous sessions, and that some of the website pages had not been updated to reflect that. I noticed a few of these incidents, where material was added on, but some information was not revised to reflect the current situation.
Also, in adding this comment, I found I needed to scroll down right to the bottom of the page, and was thinking that maybe I didn’t have the right page to add comments, and was confused for a bit. It would be helpful to have comments from previous years available as archives which could be accessed, but not necessarily visible on the comments page –it would save some time and confusion for us.
I hesitated to add the last couple of comments, because the course is so important and positive, so I hope the comments are taken in the spirit intended, as minor tweaks.
I do not have a business at the moment, but if I do decide to start one, or even if I am in a position where I can offer people consultations in, for example, Permaculture, I will definitely be back for more.

I am so very grateful for this course. I felt it was beautifully curated and orchestrated and it’s delivery style really suited my temperament and spirit. I have taken so many self development courses over the years that promised heaven and earth and were too loud and flashy for my taste. I can honestly say that the approach highlighted over the past 8 weeks has been unlike anything I have publicly experienced. I have always dreamed of living a peaceful, deeply fulfilling life in alignment with my highest values and I haven’t generally gotten much support for aspiring for something quieter. I come away from this course with a deeper level of peace and inner assurance and renewed courage that the money aspect of my life is something I can handle. Heart of Money has opened my eyes and hearts to a confidence in my truth that I did not have before. My coaching practice is very much about helping people connect with their hearts and souls to lead from a place of love rather than fear. I loved how delicately and confidently Mark wove in Sufi spiritual practices with this idea of connecting with my own truth. I feel closer to the Divine after this program, and now have a completely different perspective on my finances. While things are not “easy” yet, I realize that’s not the goal. It’s more about facing what is true for me in order to move through it. This is important for money, certainly, and applies to many other aspects of life. As a shaman I know that the power of ceremony is one of the most potent experiences in transformation. What I had not imagined was that in The Heart of Money Mark Silver would gift us with the experience of a ceremonial journey woven through a sequence of video guidance, journal writing questions, spiritual tools and self-examination exercises supported by a live conversation where Mark responded with profoundly compassionate answers to our questions.
I have been working with my money wounds for years and I have an abundance of resources for transformation. Yet, the Heart of Money Course flushed out deeply hidden layers of avoidance and emotional prohibitions that were not allowing me to look at my financial life with the honesty I prefer. Instead I was placing my finances “on hold” until an “ideal” day where I could deal with it all.
In this course I realized that not only was I placing my financial life on hold and therefore it was not growing; but I was exiling myself from my humanity by not addressing my basic needs. I was able to touch the core wound behind this avoidance. I was able to find the story sustaining this avoidance. And I was able to flush the energy pattern out.
The process was deep and sometimes painful. Throughough it Mark offered spiritual tools that helped me stay in the uncomfortable place of healing. I was able to work with a partner from the HOB community. The FB HOB community was there for me and continued the process with in-depth conversations and compassionate communication. When the energy “knot” in my wings began to unravel, my shoulders felt like they were being unbolted –which is of course good but hurts like hell! Mark was there for me in empathic presence and intentional support so that I could “open my wings” to my financial freedom.
The content in this course is simple and straightforward. The weekly homework is doable in about three hours of deep reflection. The potency of this course is not so so simple. It is alchemical in that it flushes out the lead of wounds and fears to transmute it into the golden nugget of loving awareness. It is life-changing in that it helps you bring your financial life into integrity and clarity.
The name of this course is spot-on. It allows you to see, hear and love the heart of your money so that it can grow and love you right back. I highly recommend this course to anyone who seeks to clear their money issues, have a congruent financial life and clear the way to enjoy, receive and grow their money.
Oh, it’s “Woo” — and also very practical; a beautiful balance of the two.
I first took Heart of Money several years ago, and started to get more clients within a few months of finishing the course.
This time around, taking Heart of Money has been like personal-development retreat time for myself, in that way that business development for micro-business is so much about personal development. Besides recalling familiar topics Mark presented the first time I took the course, there were a few ‘upgrades’ to the way he presented the material.
And it has been a cause for celebration to see how much I have grown in the directions Heart of Business encourages. I feel more balanced, now, spending time with several aspects of my business finances each week, and tasks I did not used to like have become regular habits for me, to the benefit of my private practice.

Thanks heaps Mark and team, your Heart of Money program has been extraordinarily helpful in shifting deeply stuck beliefs and understanding about money and opening a whole new realm of development through The Remembrance practice. It has helped me consider and work through many things and feel confident that I can make the difference I see is needed in the world: nature conservation, especially bringing a grounded understanding of invertebrate biodiversity and conservation and ecological relationships — that is understanding Life on Earth and how we fit in.
As an adult educator myself, I thoroughly appreciated how well-structured the program was, enabling access to the content in a variety of ways for all different types of learners: written work, auditory, and visual, with concrete activities to embed the learnings.
With respect to The Remembrance practice I found it especially helpful that, while offered within a Sufi spirituality, Mark was wording the guided practices in a way that, as a secular person and an ex-Catholic, I could connect with. I have found the practice deeply helpful. My translation is God = The Universe. Nothing exists that doesn’t exist in The Universe.
As yet I’ve to see concrete changes in my financial position, and I could feel the strategies I was putting in place to change it and their outcomes were within my grasp, but unfortunately finishing the 2020 program coincided with a global health crisis. Unfortunately, all my sources of income dried up within a week. Rather than take the situation and get anxious or upset, the transformation the Heart of Money program brought to me has sent me looking for other alternatives to get my basic needs met, and look for how to grow myself and my business from there.

Having done the Heart of Money course last year, I found it helped me shift my relationship with money in big ways. Then, a few weeks later, the pandemic hit and wiped out all my income streams within a week. My relationship with money had shifted so much I was able to ask for help through a crowdfunding platform called GoFundMe. I attribute my surviving the next 8 months, being able to continue my work with insect biodiversity through co-authoring, producing and publishing a new book “Inviting Nature to Dinner”, and being able to keep my property and its 33yo butterfly and wildlife garden, to this program and Marks generous Pay from the Heart approach. I rejoined this year to enable me to integrate the teachings into my practices and business. I found the added Power teachings and exercises have taken me to a whole new level. What an experience this Money and Power workshop was! I’m European and generally shy away from superlatives, but I was amazed at both the scope, and efficacy of this profound series of teachings.
To me it acted not only as a spiritual refresher, and a series of important tools, but also as a kind of magical container in which my experience outside of class was being mirrored, transmuted and transformed through… whatever you call the Universe, circumstances, the Cosmos.
Both my relationship with money AND power were deeply transformed —and that was only my first time.
It’s a program that can (and should) be revisited, I’d say with anything related to doing business as a well intentioned human in this world. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Mark, and everyone who serves this beautiful project: your work is helping this world in a beautiful way.
