A Round of Applause For… The Customer Focused Story!
A recent post in the Oasis, combined with some of the work I have been doing with my Organic Business Development Program clients lately, has really highlighted the power of the Customer Focused Story (CFS) for me.
If you’re new to Heart of Business, your CFS is one of the Four Things that I recommend you do first to really give your business a spiritual and practical foundation that will get things moving! (The other three are: Unveil your Jewel, get in touch with the Heart of Your Business and Identify your Who Who What).
Once your Who Who What is clear, the CFS usually flows fairly easily. It consists of five elements:
- Empathy for where your clients are at.
- Acknowledging what they’ve probably tried that doesn’t work.
- Why it doesn’t work.
- What really does work.
- How you can help with providing what does work.
Once you work out these five elements for your business, you can use them again and again in your marketing. You can condense them to five sentences or expand them to a full length book. You can use it as a basis for your brochures, speeches, your website homepage.
And you can use it as a basis for your offers (you know, your coaching packages, your workshops, massage sessions, and what-have-yous). Once again, the key is in first defining the WWW for each offer. Once you have done that, developing the CFS for each offer should be relatively easy.
This may sound like a lotta WWWs and CFSs, but I promise that, one at a time, they are immensely worth the time and effort.
The CFS is a brilliant support for you in your business. It helps know what to say in nearly any business conversation. It reminds you why you’re clients need you, if you ever forget. It makes writing a homepage or brochure a relative breeze.
So, please, a round of applause for our humble friend, the Customer Focused Story! And if you need help getting yours done, take a moment to re-read Chapter 19 of Unveiling the Heart of Your Business, then get on into the Tent and ask!
See you in the Tent,
Yollana
