Why am I here? (And what about you?)

Hey there! It’s me, Yollana – Oasis Guide and Organic Business Development Program coach. I’m pleased to be reaching out to you all through these Friday notes… and you can expect to hear more from Judy here too, as well as the wonderful and familiar Kate.

It’s all part of a process we’re in at Heart of Business – learning to work as a team, to build community, to share our talents, draw on each other’s strengths, and support each other’s vulnerabilities.

In that vein, I – actually, we – received a lovely note, an internal memo, from Mark this week. I was touched by it and wanted to share it with you, dear Oasis member, too. I had a feeling it might speak to your heart as it did to mine, about why we’re all doing this (heart-centered business) in the first place…

I spoke to my parents yesterday—they live in the D.C. area, the power is out because of a huge, HUGE, thunderstorm. Tornadoes were mentioned.  I grew up in the area and I never remember a single tornado the whole first 18 years of my life. The weather is changing.

There are huge things happening- environmentally, economically, politically. There is so much pain in the world.

A huge amount of that is because of the dysfunction in our economic system. The market place is a mess.  Thankfully, there are many, many people putting in effort to make a difference. Healers, environmental activists, social justice efforts.

Here’s where we come in: many of these folks are self-employed. They are trying to do their work, have an impact, but from within a dysfunctional system. We are here to help them make a living and reach people—to support themselves, and to divert precious economic resources towards healing, transformation, and justice.

Our competitor is the economic system. Our competitors are the unconscious motivations of greed and disconnection in the marketplace.

I’m really glad we’re in this together, that we are all working in Remembrance of Oneness to support healing, transformation and justice.

Inspiring, huh? It was to me.

And it got me to wondering—What about you? Why are you here, doing what you’re doing in your business? Do you see the powerful work that you do on an individual level contributing to the greater good? Have you spoken and written about it somewhere in your business?

See you in the Tent,

Yollana
