Celebrating the Team

Welcome to our new home for Heart of Business! I’m thrilled beyond belief to have this new site up. And truth be told, I need to give the credit away to the team. Who are they? Well, let me just introduce them to you…

Meris Brown of Fancypants Design

She’s responsible for the look and feel of our new logo, the website, the graphics (except for some stock photos that are still showing up in blog posts), everything.

Sometimes her work brings me to tears- both at the beauty, and at feeling so seen.

And yes, we’ll be working with her for a long time to come.

Tzaddi Gordon of ThriveWire Media

Tzaddi worked together with Meris to turn the design into a website. Tzaddi has been supporting us with website tech help for quite awhile now. After going through a complete redesign with her, I don’t think we’re ever going to let her go.

Unless she gets sick of us. πŸ™‚

Christiane Holbrook of Inspired Business Resources

Christiane is the newest member of our team. She has a history of working at the highest levels of internet marketing, quite successfully, and couldn’t handle the lack of integrity and heart. She walked away, bringing (some) of her skills and knowledge, discarding the parts that were unethical or gross, and committed to supporting business that are doing it differently. I’m humbled to have her on the team as a project manager and marketing strategist.

She’s not currently looking for new clients, so her website isn’t live right now. If that changes, I’ll be happy to let folks now.

Susan Lucibello, Ribary and Associates

Susan has been our virtual support for years now, and I’m over the moon that she has stayed with us for so long. She cares deeply, she handles the details, and is far more available than she should be, for which I’m grateful.

It’s truly fantastic to have someone along for so many years. My parents ran a retail store, and some of the employees were there for decades. Yes, decades. I value that kind of connection, and so much becomes possible when someone like Susan is so familiar with who we are and what we do. She’s definitely part of the “we.”

Weekend Warriors

We care deeply about family, rest, balance, and not burning out. That said, when you run a business, sometimes projects come up that require a push. If it happens often, something’s wrong.

If it happens occasionally, that’s to be expected. This was one of our very occasional pushes, and I’m so grateful everyone was available for it.

Thanks for celebrating the site with us!

The Perfect Storm

The push was even bigger than expected, because another organization asked us to provide training for their folks on a deadline that directly coincided with this deadline. Plus the start of the Moneyflow course. We’re handling it all, but there has been an “all hands on deck” situation for the last week. We’ll get it all settled by the end of the this week.

In the meantime, because of that training program, we’re going to get to share something with the Heart of Business community, by permission with that other organization. Keep an eye out- we’ll be letting you know about that in the next day or so

How You Can Help

Celebrate everything and anything you like about the site in the comments!

Help us find broken links- yes, we already know about the links within the Training Programs page, so don’t bother with that. But if you do find a broken link, or something else that is whonky, please go to the Contact Page and let us know.

  1. Yaaaaaay! Love the redesign! Will have more extensive comments at some point (it’s *me*, after all, a fellow Virgo), but for now, my fave new thing is that little cartoon door and the “New here?” box. Awesome, simple, perfect. Well done!

  2. Oh! almost forgot: and the tagline. *Love* the new tagline. If it’s indeed new. And if it’s not, something about the redesign made me see it for the first time, so doubly well done, in that case.

  3. Mark – love the new site and especially the tag line. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if all businesses were infused with spirit? I too love the little door! Beautiful site – it has such a nice feel to it.

  4. Three cheers for you and your team. Spectacular job that suits you and your work down to a T, and it was already pretty darned good.

P.S. nice timing too – I’m about to publish a short-list of businesses & their sites that, IMHO, exemplify businesses driven by love.

  5. Mark and team – I am so in love with the new site! It has a clean, warm feel that really reflects the feel of the work HoB does. Like the others, I’m smitten with the door, and the new tagline? Blows. Me. Away.

The whole new ‘do is fantastic. Great work, all! <3

  6. Wow, it was a bit of a shock when I visited the site, not knowing you had changed it. But it was perfect timing too; and I really love it. Very clear, and with a maturity the old site didn’t have. I guess that is because your business is growing up!
ANd I too love the new tagline. Goes along with my new tagline too ‘bringing spirit and business together’. Just considering whether I need a complete new name for my business too, but whatever happens, OUR WORLD NEEDS MANY MORE BUSINESSES LIKE YOURS AND MINE! Congratulations everyone. I’m glad I know you.

  7. This is gorgeously elegant and clean, and the huge number of good things available here are presented in an atmosphere of welcome, clarity and spaciousness. Kudos to the Team!

  8. Love, love, love it!! I’m a sucker for particular little visual elements and that little door up to the right tickles my eye. Congrats on the new look.

Thank you for sharing your team members with us. I had just heard Christiane speak on another program, than saw her here! What a coincidence.

    Blessings to you.

  9. Thank you, all! I am in love with our tagline, our look, the New Here door, everything! And if you haven’t yet, go to the New Here page and check out the slideshow- that’s Meris’ work as well (though the voice is mine. πŸ™‚ )

Everyone has been amazing. And it’s such a relief to have a site that reflects who we are now, finally. πŸ™‚

  10. I love the new design and the beautiful heart felt messages throughout.
The video’s add that extra touch of sincerity and really give me a sense of who you are and what you are about. You are so clearly addressing the problems and what you can do to help solve them.

  11. It’s lovely! Congratulations on a huge job, well done! And Corrina describes it well….I love to look in peoples’ closets (I’m an organizing and resource junkie, so love to see how people store their stuff :-), so gonna go poke around!

  12. Mark and team,
The new site redesign looks amazing!! There’s this sense of “peace” I feel, just being here. Great work!!!

  13. Well done on the new site! As principal of a design firm that creates websites, I deeply appreciate all the hard work that’s required to pull off a project like this. Kudos to you and your team!

  14. Everyone, thank you so much for all the kind words about the design. Working with Mark and the team was really just amazing! A truly wonderful group & so much fun!
    Enjoy!

  15. Nice, I really love the logo and tagline. Are you going to write about how you came up with this tagline, seems like it’s a different strategy than the old one.

Hey, we have similar color schemes now. =)

I think the commentluv plugin might not be working.

    1. Thanks, Emma. It is a different strategy. The other strategy is still evident, but it’s a new step. I’m sure I’ll write about it. πŸ™‚

      1. I like it. Making it a statement like that really emphasizes taking a stand in the world. Plus, it will appeal to people who actually are already making a profit, but want to align their business more with their heart. I think your work is about more than just making a profit while making a difference–it’s about making a difference BY making a profit (i.e. by showing up more in such a way that is profitable and expansive and reaches more people with goodness.). Awesome. =)

        1. Hi Emma- I agree. Heart of Business has grown up. πŸ™‚ I’ll be talking about it. In fact, I may have someone special write a guest post about it. I’ll see. Thanks for your warm words of encouragement.

  16. Wow! Stunning! Loved the slide show. Congratulations all — the love comes through the excellence.

  17. There’s so much to love – the colors, the clarity, the door, the layout, the new tag line (huge thumbs up and smiles !!!) and especially the functionality! Hats off to you all.

There’s so much positive that I hesitate to say anything not overflowing with praise, but wish to be honest. I find myself missing a heart visual (yes, a literal heart shape like you had in your former logo) somewhere, anywhere. Don’t get me wrong, as logos go the new one is much savvier and graphics-wise is more practical and clearer than the old and I would definitely opt for the new one over the old, no question.

I’m sure you all discussed using heart shapes/graphics and decided against for whatever reasons – probably too cliche from a design standpoint, which I get. While I definitely see more “business” in the new logo and site designs, I find myself looking for the “heart”. As I approach a redesign for my own site/blog, I know the nuances that go into these things, that they are not easy and that you can’t please everyone. Still, I’m curious to know if you’ve heard this comment elsewhere.

    1. It’s an interesting question, Karen. We couldn’t find a way to make the heart not look cheesy- with both the word “heart” and an actual heart, it just never came out right, despite numerous attempts, and previous designers trying.

This logo, with the sunrise behind it, gives for me a larger sense of what I mean by Heart- the illuminating Oneness- the Heart of the Real. Yet I hear you.

Just think about us humans- our hearts are so vital- but we can’t see them as we walk around. Maybe that will help?

      1. Yep, I get it and I like the sunrise too – it feels broader and more universal as a graphic than a heart. Plus it has all the positive connotations of light, source, oneness and illumination like you said. Thanks for being so responsive on this topic – now go back to those toddlers! (and good luck)

  18. As I said on FB, I absolutely do love the new site! It’s so warm and simple, and feels much I’ve been trying to get my site to feel like… welcoming. I, am, however, curious about some of the product links and pages not, um, syncing up… particularly in regards to the affiliate stuff. Is that a work in progress, or are those products going by the wayside?
    xo, Gina

    1. Thanks, Gina! I know… we’re still trying to fix some of the links. Some couldn’t be fixed until the site went live, and then some went missing! Where did they go? We’re finding and re-creating them. It’s a bumpy, sloppy, 1.0 launch. Thanks for your patience.
