Our team member in Australia, Yollana, has been involved with the Bentley camp protests, blocking a planned coal seam gas mining operation that threatens the area.
I’ve been volunteering with 350oregon.org to support the Oregon Climate Declaration and to have the entire state, as well as local municipalities and other organizations, divest from coal and gas.
At a meeting recently for 350oregon, we were discussing the challenge of how to activate more people, since the effects of climate change are diffuse and hard to recognize. “There should be five times the people in this room!”
This challenge is exciting to me. I’ve been volunteering with the communications team, and we’ve been putting a plan together to work toward bringing many, many more people into the room.
When you think about expanding your reach for your business, you may shy away from it, not wanting to promote yourself. You may say, “I don’t need to make a million bucks. I don’t need ten thousand followers. I don’t need to be that big.”
I hear you. It’s okay. You don’t have to be dreaming of a world empire, when all you want is to do great work with great clients.
Please consider this, though.
How does your work affect people? Does it change lives? Does it heal? Does it transform something for your clients, or in the world around us?
You know, I don’t have to tell you, that the world situation is urgent. We need healing, transformation and action in large quantities. You may not want to create a world empire, but we’re facing the need to change systems and ways of being that have been hurting so many for so long.
Companies and services with multi-million dollar budgets can reach millions of people to maintain the status quo. We need hundreds of thousands of us to expand our reach and change the world.
Expanding your reach is not about making yourself bigger, or pumping your ego up. It’s about being humble enough to realize that you have a part to play, and that stepping in means being part of the solution.
Please take a moment now and find in your heart the ability to make a commitment to:
- Let yourself and your work be seen, so the people who need it can find you.
- Be an advocate for the future you are wanting to help create through the gifts you’ve been given.
- Get the help you need so you can expand your reach in a way that feels in integrity with your highest values and the mission of your business.
There are lots of people teaching how to expand your reach. Find someone whom you really resonate with, whom you really trust, to teach you the ropes, to give you the healing and support, so you can step out in the way that’s needed, now more than ever.
What do you notice in your heart when you read this? What are you ready to do? Please come share what you find in your heart.
We’d be honored if you let us help you expand your reach.

Thank you, Mark. This is exactly what I needed to read this morning. I’m in the process of developing a new service and was having a bit of a downer about it all. I was asking the Universe if it needs me to do this, is my little contribution essential, will it really make a difference – blah, blah, blah! Your wonderful words, ‘being humble enough to realize you have a part to play, and that stepping in means being part of the solution’ went straight to my heart. I feel inspired again and reconnected to the difference I know I want to make in this world. Thank you : )
Leda- so glad to hear that this is what you needed! Yes! Step in! We need you.
Wow, Leda, thank you, your comment is exactly what I was thinking. I read this article too this morning and it really touched my heart. Times have been a little tough lately. I was contimplating putting it all down and just focusing on getting a “real” job. Ha ha ha, Mark, your article reminds me that I am here to bring love and healing first and foremost. I have to keep going, as my master teacher was fond of saying; “keep go keep go”
Ami- So sorry times have been tough, and glad you could remember love and healing. Definitely, let’s all “keep go keep go” 🙂
Thanks, Ami. Nice to know my comment resonated. Keeping going and go for it!

What an excellent words. This is what a present business men need. Thanks for the article mark.IT is very helpful to get out of all odds.
thank you Mark. I’m at that place where what I’ve done to build my business to its current level cannot be what brings it to the next level. Foggy, irritable haze before some kind of quantum, necessary leap. So, thank you for this.
