[VIDEO] How to approach someone who messed up on you

Okay, you’ve done it. You’ve hired a team member. Maybe they’re an employee, or maybe they are a contractor, or maybe you’re a client of theirs, for instance when you hire a Virtual Assistant.

However you’ve done, you’ve got someone. Then, inevitably, it happens. They mess up. In a big way.

There’s a reframe that is really important to bring to the conversation, so that you aren’t either being too nice and accommodating, and so that you aren’t getting caught in a dynamic of blame that doesn’t go anywhere good.

I made a short video about it, about 3 1/2 minutes. Take a look, and let’s discuss.

Okay, I want to know how this impacts you, and what your experience is. How can I help you further navigate these conversations?

With hugs and big gratitude,

p.s. Accelerating Growth deadline coming up next week

Last year we ran our F3: Accelerating Growth program, on the strategic topics of Business Model, Systems and Teams- the most boring topics imaginable… until you need them.

Then they are exciting! The challenge is that just when it seems your business could be fun, it isn’t. You hit an income ceiling you can’t get beyond, you end up exhausted, frustrated, and feeling like you can’t get the help you need.

If you want in-depth help on, say, how to assemble a team, and how to manage them once you have them (even if it’s just one or two people), then please, don’t waste thousands of dollars and months of time trying to figure it out on your own. Get help. on those topics and more.

This is a 21 week, hands-on, live program that both Steve Mattus, our Director of Education/systems maven, and I, Mark Silver, will co-teach to only 14 people.

Plus, there’s an early-early deadline coming up the end of February, so if you’re interested, don’t wait!

Take a look and ask questions. If you need it, join us.

  1. Thank you for this, Mark. I do tend to forget that my business is not “me,” but has its own heart. I actually have a situation right now where a subcontractor has not been getting her work to me on time, which pushes things back on the timeline, making it impossible for me to get my part done. And… I have avoided having this difficult conversation with her because she has been going through a hard time in her life… and my business and clients have suffered because of it. You have given me a way to broach the subject. Perfect timing!
