Love for Steve Mattus

About eight years ago, I got on the phone with someone who was interested in the year-long program we were offering at the time. We weren’t on the phone very long, when he said, “I’m in. I don’t have any other questions.” I was surprised and moved. I was prepared to support him in making sure the program was really a fit for him but he didn’t need more.

That started our journey together. Steve Mattus has, in the eight years since, become a friend and a core part of Heart of Business. He is someone who brings such care and love and deep commitment, and I am so moved by his presence and integrity.

In recent times, he started making it clear that he needed to go out on his own again, that he wanted to let go of being an employee. When the timing was right for him, he made that choice, and at the end of August, he leaves behind his employee status at Heart of Business.

Steve, you’ve been a brother and a friend, and someone I can count on to speak the truth. We’ve spent countless hours talking, laughing, working through things. I have such big love in my heart for you and I’m grateful to have you in my life and in my company.

I’m grateful you’ll be staying on as a practitioner, as well as being engaged with your own company, actualinfinity.com.

Here’s a love note from Steve. If you know Steve, please join me in expressing your love and appreciation for him. And of course, get his Love Notes.

Hello dear one,

I have a flood of mixed emotions, ranging from excited to sad, thrilled to disappointed and everything in between.

Why?

A while ago, I turned in my resignation to Mark and will be leaving my employment at Heart of Business effective the end of August 2018.

It’s going to be a monumental shift for me – freeing up well over half my time every week. I’ll be able to pour my focus, love and attention into my own business at actualinfinity.com. And, it’ll mean no longer being part of a team that I adore, with a company that I have loved ever since I stumbled upon it 8 years ago.

The past six + years as an employee with Heart of Business have been full of blessings, starting with the gifts that Mark brought to my life when I discovered his “Sacred Moment” course (now called “sacred selling”) back in 2009.

Back then, I was running my own company, actualinfinity. It was small, I was on my own with little direction and running a business by the seat of my pants. It was working, but not well enough. I didn’t intend to get a “job,” but along came Heart of Business and I fell in love.

Back in 2011, I was part of a small group of people who volunteered to help Mark get the Community up and running. Because of my background in Corporate business operations, I voluntarily created a short-mid-long term strategic plan to help support him in developing the strategy, implementation and growth of the brand new Community for Heart of Business Alumni. He was so impressed, he asked if I might want to come on board as the Community Manager.

I started as an official employee in January of 2013. Over the years, I’ve had the honor to support Mark and Heart of Business in many ways, in different roles, including Marketing, Admin, Operations, Coach, Teacher and the past few years as the Director of Education, Community Manager and Coach Practitioner. I’ve worn lots of hats over the years.

Mark hired me at a time when I was going through a very difficult period in my life – part of my personal and spiritual growth – and it was highly risky for him to trust me and make me an employee. Most folks advised him to pass on me but he trusted his gut and hired me anyway. I am and will forever be grateful to Mark for making that decision and his friendship ever since.

I’ve always said that the reason I am here and the reason I’ve invested so much into Heart of Business is because I believe in our tagline: Every act of business can be an act of love. I believe that to my core.

I have seen Heart of Business and Mark, as its leader, be a beacon of light in the dark world of capitalism. It’s a rare thing to find a genuinely special and unique place on the internet. And to this day, I haven’t found anything even similar to what Mark has created here at Heart of Business. The combination of deep, profound, Sufi spiritual teachings based on love, integrated with nuts and bolts business training. Wow. It’s incredibly special and it’s forever changed my relationship with every aspect of the business.

And…

I’m ready for a change. I’m ready to re-focus back on my own company at actualinfinity.com. There’s a variety of reasons why now is the right time but one of the things I’ve learned through Remembrance is a deep trust in Divine timing and listening to guidance when it speaks – and speak it has.

I’ve been running actualinfinity for almost a decade and during my time with Heart of Business, I’ve spent almost zero time in my own company, except supporting the small handful of clients that I’ve had since the beginning and who remain with me to this day. This year, however, as things have been changing around Heart of Business, I’ve started to put my focus back into actualinfinity and it’s growing beautifully.

At actualinfinity, I help small business owners who need better results in their life and business and want love and kindness to lead the way. I believe the world and each individual in it deserve more love, not less. And everything I do is based on Heart, Curiosity and Relationship.

I have an enormous amount of me still to give. I have so much that I want to do, share and offer to the Heart of Business Community and to the world. I simply can’t get done what I envision solely through Heart of Business.

The good news is that I won’t be away from Heart of Business completely. I’ll be staying on as a Coach Practitioner so I’ll still be here. In fact, you might actually see way more of me. Now that I’ll have back in my domain more than half of my working hours each week, I’ll be able to use those hours in service to my clients and to bring more of my self to the Community here at Heart of Business and to the broader world.

We’ll be able to stay in touch here at Heart of Business and I look forward to that. And… I also want to invite you to connect with me at actualinfinity.com. I send out Heart Notes each week, which are very brief, thought-provoking and heart-connecting notes which might challenge your perception, give an insight, make you laugh or remind you of your amazing heart that can lead you in your life and business. (And, I’ve only sent one email about my services in the past six months… it’s not a funnel. Yuck!). You can see what others say about my notes here.

It’s been one of the greatest pleasures of my life to be connected to so many of you, to interact with you, whether that be a comment on the blog, in one of our program’s coaching calls, through the Community, on our private Community Facebook Group, through email (OMG… SO much email! LOL), or even face to face. I feel humbled, honored and tremendously grateful to each of you who have brought your love and kindness to our interactions. I can say with my deepest sincerity, “I love you.” Thank you for being a part of my life. I hope that I’ve contributed to your life as much as you have to mine. And I hope that mutual connection and love continues on wherever our paths cross.

To the team at Heart of Business – past and present – I love you and treasure you. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you. There were many times where it was mostly just Mark and me running the company and it was like four full-time jobs doing so and I was on the edge of burnout for so long… and just in time, Cathy came along and saved the day. Thank you for all you’ve done for me, my friend. Then some others came through and finally Teresa came on board and took so much off my plate and continues to care for an enormous amount of admin details. Teresa, you’re an incredible gift to this company.

And to Mark… I’ve learned so much from you. I can’t even express it. My heart and my life is better off because I found you and Heart of Business. Thank you for all you have brought to my life. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for… everything. And thank you for letting me go. All I can do is put my hands together in front of my heart, smile and sincerely say, “Thank you, brother. Truly.”

And so, as September rolls around, I’m excited to get some rest and to begin more creation of the Love + Business that’s inside of me, from the depths of my heart. Stay tuned! I’ll see you soon.

With kindness and care,

Steve

With love,
