The easiest way to bring joy back to business

Back in 2001, when I first started seeing clients in this crazy combination of Sufi healing and business work, I noticed a trend: that people wanted to get their businesses going, but they had no oomph to push, they wondered if something was wrong with them, and they couldn’t access joy.

Here’s the easiest way I know to bring joy back, even though it can seem really hard to do.

Can you choose this for yourself? What’s your experience with choosing to rest?

With love,

Mark Silver, M.Div.

Heart of Business, Inc.

Every act of business can be an act of love.

p.s. Another way to bring rest and ease.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes business can be incredibly stressful… and yet the task itself doesn’t seem like it should be so hard? But it is?

Often when the relationship between your heart and your business is bumpy, there is a whole lot of unnecessary stress, stress that exhausts and depletes you in really painful ways.

Getting into a healthy relationship with your business usually requires three things:

  • Internal work within your heart.
  • The big picture of how business works, so you can know what’s a problem, what isn’t really a problem, and what only looks like one.
  • The nitty-gritty of how to get certain basic things done in the easiest way possible.

Our program, The Heart of Your Business, is designed to do just this: to deliver those three points, and to help you have a MUCH more easeful, nourishing, and effective relationship with your business.

Price? Pay-from-the-heart. You choose the price.

It starts August 1, and runs for about two months. Please join us.

  1. You’re sooo right about our tendency to think it will always be the way it feels at the moment. It took me years to figure that out, and my new rule is to never make any important decisions when I feel grumpy and tired. I make self care a priority, and trust that when I get back to the issue I’ll be better equipped to handle it.

    What will I do today?
If it doesn’t rain, I’ll take a walk in the forest near our house in the afternoon. If it rains, I’ll try a power nap or a guided meditation instead.

  2. Thank you Mark for today’s message…and for the love that I could see and receive through your eyes…not just your words. It was as if you were speaking to only me today. Thank you. Family health issues…husband has had one surgery, another one in the very near future and I am pushing hard with my business thinking that I need to push hard to get my business to the next level. He is self-employed too so feeling the financial crunch…so your challenge today is in fact, a challenge. Perhaps I will find rest in my flower beds or a gentle walk.

    1. Donna- I’m so glad that came through… health issues can be so overwhelming… and I get the challenge. Even a gentle walk can make a huge difference.

  3. Yes! We can get so caught up in serving that we forget about ourselves. I have been working seven days a week since our business expanded in October. I do not feel resentful, I love my business and our community, but this is obviously not ideal or sustainable. Summer is a much slower time in our business (everyone wants to go outside after a harsh winter) and it’s made me look seriously at this pattern that I’ve gotten myself into. The obstacle, for me, was the small, dedicated group of ladies who have been coming consistently to my Sunday afternoon classes. I so appreciate them and didn’t want to disappoint them but the reality is that the attendance is half what it used to be, they are able to come to other classes, and NOW is the time to take time for myself. So I recently decided to let go of my Sunday afternoon class and to take weekends off. A whole two days! It’s not forever, it’s only for two months until things pick up again. Of course, all of our students so far have been absolutely fine with it, it’s me who has struggled most with this decision, lol. Ah, there is joy in finding balance and getting out of our own way. ☺️

    1. Susan- I’m so glad you found a choice that works so well for you and then- it can be surprising how much people are happy to support your choices.

  4. What a great video blog. Love all the tips you have given in this post especially the one about putting ourselves ahead every now and then. It is important that to first be well before we can actively and effectively serve others. Thank you for this great post! It certainly gave me more awareness 🙂

  5. I love how you can hear the birds in the background!

But I agree… sometimes I feel like it’s easier to “work through the exhaustion” but when I take time to get outside and rest and refresh…. I feel sooo much better!

    Thanks for the reminder!
