[Video] When your collaboration needs to make $10K/month

This topic was really pertinent before, but now in the midst of COVID-19 it’s even more so, as I see people taking on collaborations and other partnerships, in response to the isolation of quarantine… as we should!

And yet, I want to bring in some grounding, some experience, that will hopefully help you approach these in a more sustainable fashion.

I was recently speaking with a client who was involved in a budding partnership with other folks. It had become really challenging because the efforts of this collaboration weren’t bringing in enough to support one person, much less all the people involved.

I wanted to explore this topic, because it’s not at all uncommon. Take a look, less than seven minutes.

What’s your take-away from this? How can you adjust how you relate to potential collaborations or partnerships, without losing all the benefits of working with others? What’s true in your own heart?

And if you have your own story, I’d love to hear!

With love,

P.S. Free Webinar on Adventures in Pay from the Heart Webinar

A little over a year ago our caring and our integrity led me to make a big change in our business model, from primarily fixed prices, to pay from the heart.

Especially in this time of COVID-19, when we don’t want to just give everything away for free, but we want to be generous and flexible, this Pay from the Heart approach can be especially powerful.

It’s been an adventure! I want to share what we’ve learned over the several years that I’ve been experimenting with it in a free webinar on April 8 at 2:30pm eastern. And yes, if you can’t make it, the recording will be available to all who register.

Register for it here: Adventures in Pay from the Heart

And please forward this to anyone you think needs to know about it.

  1. Mark, in all my years of self-employment, i’ve never before seen content on the perils of partnerships. I love the way you work with modest income figures to illustrate the pitfalls instead of the typical 6-figure advice.

Cooperating on a single big event each year is a brilliant idea, giving each individual the support required to attempt something new without obligating individuals to share each of their sales with the others.

My father and his brother (married to my mother and her sister–yes, two brothers married two sisters) shared a neighborhood grocery store in the fifties and sixties. They managed to stay close friends despite the business’s eventual demise, but money was very, very tight and it was like each of the four was married to three other people instead of one in dealing with economic issues.
