Jeffrey Davis, the medicine of hope, and Tracking Wonder

Today I’m having a conversation with my friend and colleague Jeffrey Davis, who has just released a beautiful, magical, transformative book Tracking Wonder: Reclaiming a Life of Meaning and Possibility in a World Obsessed with Productivity.

The book covers the six facets of wonder, and how critical they are to our health, well-being, and lives well-lived. In this conversation we focus in on the facet of “hope,” especially in the face of so much hopelessness and challenge in this world of ours.

I love what he’s up to, and this conversation is, I hope, medicine, as is the book.

Watch it here:

I highly recommend this book. You can find it here: Tracking Wonder the book

And you can just find out more about Jeffrey and his work here:

  1. If there is something about my story about Jeffrey Davis that you find important or interesting and want to know more about what this all means so it can be shared here too — or if, like me you know of him — I’d be very happy to tell you more.
My father was a great one for stories — and he was good at sharing them, too. He did not know how to write. It turned out his writing skills had not developed beyond some scribbles on legal pads (not even paper ones) when there were no computers around. Now most people in today’s tech-land know about a laptop. But not me — or rather, not till quite recently I did. My old man had his way with paper and a pen, never mind that he had written for decades as an engineer while pursuing undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University and Harvard Business School. His engineering work often took him out of NYC itself and into places like Florida. At times like these trips were the highlight of his week. In those days paper journals and the rest of an MS Word document made sense only if you could also write in cursive or if an electric typewriter were nearby for some reason that always seemed…
