Finding the small assumptions that are undermining your business

Here’s a little game you can play that might actually have a surprisingly significant impact on your business. It’s called, “finding the small assumptions.”

This kind of advice can sound dumb, small, or too “coachy.” But, it’s real.

So, for instance, a client was talking about trying to reach out to their audience, and just made a small aside to me in our conversation, “But people are too overwhelmed, they’ll never reply.”

And like that, with a soft whisper of a thought, an entirely legit and probably effective strategy was thrown out… except we caught it. The assumption.

I talk about it. Not that long, and possibly extremely helpful.

If you take a few moments, what do you see in your own business? Any assumptions?

  1. This message in my inbox is a beautiful example of exactly what you’re talking about! I am overwhelmed, and I often click through my inbox just trying to empty it. But, I read your email and watched the video, and it made an impact on me. I know these little assumptions are part of my thought process, and bringing them to light (and testing them) is exactly what I plan to do. Thank you so much!
