Balancing Global with Local

When I was an undergrad at UC Davis in California, I spent a lot of time on the American river walking, birdwatching, identifying plants, and searching for the meaning of “sense of place.”

local marketplaceI struggled, and still do, with the the borderland place we humans live in between this natural world and something beyond that we strive to identify with. Crazy and maybe hardly related, but I thought of those times this morning as I was thinking about what’s been up here this week at Heart of Business.

We had our first Opening the Moneyflow class on Tuesday, and it was so exciting to get started, to feel the crackle and buzz of the group that will be working together throughout this year.

While on the call, I remembered how many participants are local and began imagining what it would be like to gather in person. I expanded that to wonder what it would be like to create a local Heart-Centered Business Collective. Then I imagined it happening locally, globally.

Whoa, merging local and global. What does that mean? Most of us are non-local or primarily global businesses whose presence lies on the virtual internet. How does your business participate in your local community? Does it matter?

Come share in a conversation with me.

See you in the Tent,

Kate
