Why the Oasis and the Tent?
All of us here on the Oasis team at Heart of Business are in the midst of re-visiting the purpose and importance of our online community. We’ve started the high altitude pass over, and I wanted to share some of our thoughts with you.
I’ve said it before and will again: you and I and everyone participating in this community actively or quietly are the community. It is ours to co-create every day. I offer this bit of high-altitude slipstream for you to consider and talk about in the Tent.
Here are the rough lists we came up with the other day and will continue to mull over and identify new and improved methods and actions from.
We believe that you are wanting and needing:
1. To make a living–increase client numbers and revenue.
2. To be effective and practice or do business with integrity.
3. To receive empathic, experienced, and useful support and collegial connections.
4. To receive input or feedback on projects and ideas. (This includes validation, affirmation, witnessing).
5. To avoid mistakes by not having to reinvent the wheel.
6. A sense of place, belonging, tribe.
7. An increased sense of ease as an entrepreneur who wants to make a difference in the world while making a profit.
The second piece we looked at had to do with identifying problems and solutions. Here are the bare bones of that brain storm:
Problem: Pressure to go fast and faster.
Solution: Cultivating organic rhythms in your business.
Problem: Sense that we need to strive for constant, relentless productivity and growth.
Solution: Identifying and resting in a sense of sufficiency. Knowing the point of enough-ness.
Problem: Seeing money as a measurement of success and worth.
Solution: Seeing money as a reflection unique to you and your situation.
Problem: Making decision from a place of comparison, from fear, competition–letting ego run the show.
Solution: Heart-based guidance.
Problem: Feeling alone, isolated, or separate in your business.
Solution: Receiving the support of a like-minded, like-lifestyle, like-value, like-hearted community—feeling connected.
Problem: Being overwhelmed by the needs of your business and clients.
Solution: Incorporating understandings and practices that bring peace and ease to entrepreneurship and service.
Where do you see yourself in these lists? Where don’t you see yourself? What’s missing? If any of this raises thoughts for discussion, I encourage you to start a thread in the Tent.
See you in the Tent,
Kate
