Two business topics that seem unrelated:

Weirdness and Price

Weirdness

The first topic asks: “Can I really be myself in business?”

Can I bring out my politics, my spirituality, the quirkiness of who I am, my swearing? Will that scare people off, will I seem less professional, or limit my clients?

Pricing

The second topic is the perennial struggle folks have with pricing their offers.

Is it too high? Is it too low? Am I getting paid enough? Will people actually pay this much? Included is the struggle with sliding scale.
These two questions sit at the heart of making your business both able to support you financially, while also… not sapping your soul in the process.

Although they are related, they are each worthy of their own deep-dive exploration. So, I’m offering:

Two Different In-depth 3 hour Clinics:

Clinic One
Bringing out your weirdness

Expressing who you are without scaring the customers.
Thursday, April 23, 11:30am-2:30pm eastern

Clinic Two:
Resonant Pricing

Setting your price so you can thrive without harming others.
Wednesday, April 29, 11:30am-2:30pm eastern.

You can take either one, or both.

Client Experience

“My experience so far has been incredible, powerful, and wonderful. I am able to open my heart even more to all these possibilities. Things have already started to shift for me just in the last week and a half I have doubled the clients that I had before. And I have yet to apply very much of what you have taught me. I believe it is all because my heart is much more open now. And as you know, that energy goes out, and that energy comes back.”

-Mike Dinkel, past course participant

Intentions

For the Bringing Out Your Weirdness
(without scaring people off) Clinic
I want you to feel like you can just freakin’ be yourself.

This means that you can show up with your values, your quirkiness, the parts of you that don’t seem to fit, without feeling like you have to hide pieces of yourself under the shroud of so-called Professionalism out of worry that who you are would scare people away.

For the Pricing Clinic, I want you to be able to stand in your pricing. I don’t mean “charging your value” which is a bullshit concept (which I’ll explain in the clinic), or raising your prices to the moon.

I mean I want you to feel solid about your pricing, knowing that you can be supported, and your values around providing access and care for others are met at the same time. And, if you’re interested in a flexible pricing structure, to teach you an alternative to “sliding scale” that actually works.

(Will you feel completely comfortable after?)

Probably not. However, any nervousness you still have after either clinic around your weirdness or pricing won’t be paralyzing. And, you’ll have a way to find the wisdom in the nervousness, so you can step through it without bypassing or ignoring your own feelings.

Who the Weirdness Clinic is for:

Client Experience

“First, every element of the course I took is surrounded and suffused with love, the deeply nourishing and worth savoring kind I found myself drawn to practicing, to keep cultivating every day because it feels SO good!

“Every weekly live session is deep and explorative; Mark Silver is a seasoned practitioner who holds a powerful container.
He brings his own Sufi spiritual practices into this work, and I initially hesitated, not knowing how that might be for me, but it’s been amazing!

“Mark does this in a deeply inclusive, matter-of-fact way that invites and encourages all to use their own practices, which I appreciate.”

My Approach

For twenty five years Heart of Business has been working at the intersection of practical and effective small business, spiritual nourishment, and social justice.

Practical Small Business

Capitalism is relatively new, while human commerce and trade have been around in many different forms as long as humans have been around.

We can reject the toxic versions of the things we need to do to make our businesses work, and instead embrace a heart-centered approach that is human and feels good. There are beautiful, connecting full of integrity ways to do things like sales and marketing. You can show up in the marketplace offering your wares and services in a way that feels great to both you and your clients.

small business, spiritual nourishment, and social justice.

Spiritual Nourishment

Spiritual connection and healing is a necessary nourishment in life, and especially in business. We do not need to bring love to business, but rather we need to uncover how it’s already here, and bring it out.

We believe that every act of business should be, and can be, an act of love. To support this, many of the Heart of Business teachings are interwoven with universal spiritual truths that we teach through a 1400 year old Sufi lineage in a way that is easily accessible to everyone.

Social Justice

We have, as humans, an obligation to care for each other. To protect the vulnerable, to share wealth when it comes to us, to embrace and support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging on a personal, group and institutional level.

It’s about love, it’s about being the earth for one another, and lifting each other up. We mirror the natural world, which is stronger and healthier when diversity is honored and nurtured.

Practical and effective business skills, spiritual healing and nourishment, and a deep caring for the world and people around us, all come together.

About Mark Silver, M.Div. and Heart of Business.

I’m Mark Silver, M.Div., founder of Heart of Business, and author of Heart Centered Business. I’ve been teaching and running groups for over thirty years.

In addition to the dozens and dozens and dozens of small intimate groups, and large classes of 100+ that I’ve run within Heart of Business over the last 26 years, I have some other experiences that are really relevant.

In a former career, I was a paramedic in the San Francisco Bay Area, and as such, I was a Field Training Officer, mentoring student paramedics on 911 calls on how to apply the learning from the classroom to actual patients in the field. I was also an instructor for ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and of course, CPR for health professionals, where I taught medics, nurses and doctors these advanced courses in emergency response for the SF Paramedic Association.

Also, in studying with my Sufi teachers, I was a graduate of a three year healer training, and a one year Sufi Teacher Internship Program for Sufi teachers, as well as attaining my Masters of Divinity (M.Div.). What’s more, I was hired as faculty, teaching the Sufi Teacher Internship Program, as well as being taught how to hold and run groups in multi-day spiritual retreats as part of my M.Div.

In short, I have a LOT of teacher and group training, and adult teaching experience, both extremely practical, skills-based, as well as spiritually-focused groups.

In the context of Heart of Business, I’ve developed curriculum for dozens of short and long courses and groups, and been praised for my courses and group structures by Instructional Design professionals.

Client Experience

“Mark Silver was the first business coach I ever had (when I started my acupuncture practice back in 2013) and he was the only business coach I ever needed to reach sustainability and momentum in my business revenue within just a few years after working with him.

“I was drawn to Mark and his approach at Heart of Business because of the deep and meaningful ways he interconnected business and spiritual practice. I cannot recommend him heartily enough!

“He is sincere and authentic and he will help you show up in your business with the same integrity and realness. He will also help you make a solid living, as business and spiritual practice do not need to be in conflict.

“I’ve continued learning and growing with him for the past decade because his product is both powerful and kind.”

What’s covered in the Clinics?

The Weirdness Clinic

  • Honoring that some things don’t need to be brought out. Part of our reluctance is out of a wisdom that there are essential parts of ourselves that shouldn’t be shared except with those who we are most intimate with us, who can cherish those parts.

  • Killing the idea of “Professionalism” which has come to have a very toxic meaning, and instead presencing connection, respect and care.

  • Understanding, tasting, the difference between our personality and our spiritual essence, and how they interact to create a unique presence.

  • Identifying a “presence audit” for your content, to help you stay centered and include what’s most true about what you’re doing when you’re creating materials for your business.

  • Naming the lineages that inform your business, and being able to lean into them spiritually so you don’t feel alone when showing up fully.

  • How to present spiritual identities and beliefs without excluding the people you want included.

The Pricing Clinic

  • Learning what’s really happening energetically and spiritually at the point of purchase.

  • Understanding what is impacting people’s purchasing decisions other than price, so pricing doesn’t have to feel so heavy.

  • Acknowledging the injustice in our economy, so we can be clear how to embrace our desire to help people.

  • The role of individuals and businesses in facing systemic injustices, what we can do and what we can’t do.

  • Seeing the dysfunction, and even toxicity, that is present in many attempts at sliding scales.

  • Learning the elements of the Pay from the Heart approach if you do want to use a flexible pricing structure.

  • Learning and practicing Resonant Pricing, so you can name a price for your offer that actually feels good to both you and your clients.

  • Understanding what happens when people are excluded by price: both the painful things, and the healthy things.

In Both Clinics

Finding the truth within in your own reactions and resistance,
so you don’t bypass,
and don’t run roughshod over your own wisdom.

How the Clinics will run.

Each clinic runs approximately 3 hours. I say “approximately” because while I have a Virgo’s attention to time, I also  don’t mind going over by a few  minutes to make sure we really complete.

Each Clinic will have:

An In-depth Teaching

For both clinics, I will bring an in-depth teaching that helps frame the topic in a heart-centered, love-based, and practical way. I’ve been working with both topics for years, with hundreds of business owners, and I want to illuminate what I’ve learned, what I’ve seen that works and doesn’t work.

I want to highlight the spiritual teachings that are embedded in each of these topics, and I want to give very practical, grounded approaches, and examples, so that it will feel real to you.

A Guided Exercise

To assure you get something practical and implementable out of this.

Time to work on the exercise.

It’s a clinic. You won’t have to leave and then have to go do the work on your own. I really intend for you to come away with an embodied understanding of these teachings.

After the guided exercise there will be time to integrate your experience.  We will use breakout rooms to work in dyads or triads. And, of course, if you prefer to work on your own during this time, you can.

Coaching time.

Out of the 3 hours, I’m intending this to be a very large part of our time together, because after over two decades of teaching this, I know that much more will be learned from taking the teachings into the real-life circumstances of your businesses.

I’ve been running group coaching calls for a long time, and I have a knack, at this point, for taking an individual question from a participant, and turning it into a mini workshop, highlighting principles and understandings that make it applicable to everyone present.

This won’t be like just watching someone get coached, although that can be useful as well, but my well-practiced intention is that everyone present benefits from any of the coaching interactions that happen during the clinic.

The recording afterward.

You’ll get the recording, so that you’ll have the teachings, the exercise, and the coaching examples. This way you can continue to deepen and apply them in your business.

What’s more, we’ll split the recordings up into sections, so, for instance, if you want to get right to the exercise again, you can.

And we’ll include a transcript. (Note: Dyad/small group work will not be distributed or even recorded.)

No AI agents. For two reasons.

First, we’ll be dealing with topics that hold emotional content. Also, participants may be describing aspects of their business that are confidential or otherwise copyrighted. We want to honor your confidentiality.

Second, similarly, I don’t want our processes and content fed into any AI machines that might repurpose them in ways we don’t approve.

I am not thinking that any participant would knowingly do anything nefarious. However, I think it’s reasonable to mistrust the intentions and ethics of some of the AI companies currently operating.

Client Experience

“Mark is a great teacher and a great role-model for doing small business with an anti-capitalist ethos. Being taught and coached by him has set in motion a big shift in my relationship to marketing and business development.

“I no longer see these things as necessary evils disconnected from the services I provide or from the values that inspire those services. They’re integral – and this has not been a head-shift (in my head I was there already, years ago), but the gradual adoption of a whole different way of being with my business.

“After struggling with marketing and biz for some years and thinking it was me/my deficiencies, I feel sane, grounded and capable as a result of working with his approach. And my business is growing!”

– Catelijne Coopmans, past client

Once and done?

Will you have done everything you ever need to do on these topics?

Well, that’s unlikely for a 3 hour clinic. But, you will have results that you can implement and act on by the end of our time together.

What’s more, you’ll have learned the processes so that you can return to the topic in the future and work through it again on your own.

Is there any prep needed?

Both clinics will have a small amount (less than 30 minutes) of preparation that will be helpful to do beforehand.

For instance, for the pricing clinic, you’ll want to be clear on one offer that you want to work with your Pricing for. It will be a little more than just knowing the offer, there will be some questions I’ll give you prior that will help you get more clear coming in. And there will be a similar amount of prework for the Weirdness clinic.

What if I can't attend live?

Although of course that’s less than ideal, you can absolutely go through either clinic in your own time. If you register you will get the full recording plus transcript.

If you choose this option, at the time you register I highly recommend blocking out 3 hours (or two 1.5 hour time slots) and scheduling it for after the clinics happen, so you have a set time to go through the clinic.

The Price

I want to have fun with this, and make it really accessible. So here’s what my heart has shown me:

You can get either clinic for $67.

Or, you can get both for $104.

Why?
Because I can.
Because that’s what my heart showed me.
Because accessibility matters.
Because I have the infrastructure in our business to make it worthwhile to offer this without harming myself.

Because it feels fun.

Client Experience

“Mark is one of the sweetest, gentlest, kindest coaches I know. By which I do not mean that he will let you get away with telling yourself things that aren’t true about what you’re capable of; but he will do it in such a way that you may not notice the resistance slipping away.

“He is wise, and has been in this work a LONG time. Everything is methodical, but not entrenched, and above all he will help you build your business while being kind to yourself and doing right by your clients. If you need coaching that feels like gentle spring rain, Mark is your person.”

– Leela Sinha, colleague and past participant
