For a small business like ours, with a tiny team, every single team member is so critical and important. So when Teresa Bitner, who has been with us since 2016, gave her four weeks notice last month, SO MANY EMOTIONS for me, and, I’m sure, for her.
Celebrating Teresa
For us, Teresa has been such a critical part of Heart of Business. She’s worked for us 20 hours/week for some years, just making Heart of Business go. She’s handled so many parts of our operations and administrative needs, and, on top of it, handled customer/client care issues. Although “customer care” is a corporate term, I have to use it here, because Teresa cares so deeply, and our clients have felt so cared-for by her.
The love and beauty she has poured into Heart of Business is noticeable and significant. I wanted to celebrate her here. Part of that caring was giving us four weeks notice instead of the usual two, so we would have time to hire her replacement while Teresa was still around to get her trained.
Teresa is leaving, at least partially, because her own business is doing so well! I recommend her book, and her work, which focuses on resiliency, stressful changes and loss/grief. She’s brought those skills to the team as well, far beyond her administrative skills, and so I invite you to get to know her here:

Welcoming Criselda
Criselda Ilao joins our team, and we couldn’t be happier. She was first a client, as a member of our Learning Community, before applying for the opening when she saw it. It was a challenging hiring process, because we had such wonderful candidates, but her authenticity, warmth, and skill shone through, and we trust she’s going to be a fantastic addition to the team for years to come.
