Sharing

With fasting for Ramadan, my energy is very much lower. Even if you’re not engaging in a month-long daylight fast, I’m sure you’re familiar with periods of LOW energy… haha! Aren’t we all?

The thing about Ramadan is that my energy goes up and down during the month. Some days I can be ecstatic and full, and other days I’m just tired.

I wanted to be transparent about this, because it’s important to see how one honors one’s energy. It would have been too easy to just breeze through and share what I’m sharing below without an explanation. Or even with an explanation that is true enough, about a different way to write a newsletter, about mixing up your content, about sharing generously.

And, it’s also true that we need to be honest about when we’re tired. There are times, of course, when not showing up at all is one way to honor tired. I’ve republished articles I’d written years before, that are still relevant and helpful, to save myself the effort of writing while still supporting you all. But sometimes you’re not that tired, and can still show up, but maybe to a lesser extent.

So, here we are. I want to share a couple of things to both honor my own energy, and to still share something that I hope is helpful to you. And an invitation.

The invitation: join me on LinkedIn?

I’ve become more active and engaged on my LinkedIn account. I would be so grateful if you wanted to join me there, if you like. And, even more, if you’ve had a positive experience with our work at Heart of Business, leaving a review or recommendation would be outstanding, either on my personal profile or on the business one. Or both. Thank you!

Intensives Institute

I wanted to share my colleague Leela Sinha’s work at the Intensives Institute. When I first heard of her explanation of intensives versus expansives, I had trouble accepting it. But the more I heard her describe it, the more it made sense. In her system, I’m an expansive. I’m a dog with a bone, I do things persistently, gradually over time, in little steps. I love it.

Intensives dive in immersively. In her words, “you do a month’s work in a week and then sleep it off for days.”

It’s a different way of experiencing the world than has really been designed for in most spaces. Leela has been trying to make it clear and visible so there’s space to move, work, thrive differently, especially in business.

I highly recommend what she’s up to. You can find her here:

Two podcasts

I recently appeared on the Better, Bolder, Braver podcast, and they have the full episode and some youtube clips that you might enjoy.

I really enjoyed speaking with Frances and Simon, and the conversations were really alive, as we touched into topics like pricing and marketing.

I also appeared on the podcast Love as a Business Strategy, which is also the title of the book they published, which is fantastic.  We talked specifically about spirituality and it’s role in love and business.

If you’d like me to appear on your podcast, I’d be delighted to hear about it. Just reply.

Business model intensive

There are conversations surfacing with various clients that I’m really loving, about business model. How do you design an offer that supports you to be in your gifts, avoid your weaknesses, still pays the bills, and maybe also supports you in other projects, like writing a book?

Putting some thoughtfulness, some heart, and some principles, plus some spreadsheet magic, and it can really become possible.

The Business Model Intensive is happening May 3. Limited seats, no more than 16. Let’s help you design a business that really supports you.

It’s not for everyone, but for those who need it, the relief and joy it can bring!
