December has brought so many messages from people I adore and cherish. Some were really hard challenges they were facing. Others had news of joy and care and love.
I know for myself, I feel like I’m in a liminal space, a space between. I feel like I’m being asked to listen deeply, to surrender, to embrace humility and a certain kind of get your hands dirty kind of work.
It feels good.
At the same time, I also feel the deep need for blessing. In my traditions, both the tradition of Judaism I was born into, and the tradition of Sufi Islam I’ve practiced in, a blessing is a real thing. It’s a gift, a ship, a wind, an embrace. It carries, it loves, it helps us to fly in ways we can’t imagine.
I’m asking for blessings, and I’m offering one. If this feels like something your heart is wanting, I encourage you to take in this Sufi blessing for the new year, from my heart to yours.
