What if you were really trustworthy concerning your business?

Whether we’re talking about business development, financial issues, or personal transformation work, there is this baseline assumption that somehow, somewhere, with something significant, we’re going to have to “push through,” or “get over,” or somehow “change our mindset” to achieve certain significant things.

Since I became more conscious of them, I stopped being a fan of those kinds of approaches. What I’ve been exploring with clients even more deeply, however, is a sort of radical trust in your own knowing.

Have resistance to doing something? There’s wisdom there.
Upset or angry about something? There’s wisdom there.
Unwilling to tolerate something? Yes, there’s wisdom there.

What if every concern, resistance or upset had wisdom in it? What would that mean for you? What kind of kindness and compassion and embrace of yourself and your full being would that engender?

But… is it really true?

What it means to have wisdom in it.

Often we take our reactions at face value. That if you hate marketing and it feels gross, then marketing is gross. To take what I said at face value would mean to then just throw marketing out, and your business would suffer.

What I mean by there is wisdom in our reactions, is that it is worthwhile to look within the reaction, to hear the deeper truth.

Spiritually, according to the Sufis, it’s said that the Divine creates everything, and so everything that exists has the spark of Truth in it. However, sometimes that spark gets distorted, or veiled, or covered up. Sometimes we mistranslate what it means.

Trusting our reactions means that there is something that is off here, that there is something to be avoided, noticed, cared-for in some way. And the only way to understand it, is to listen more deeply.

Perhaps you have a conscious or unconscious image of what marketing is, and that feels gross and is to be avoided. And you are right. Listening more deeply can reveal that your image of what marketing is is not the full truth of marketing, that you can safely reject that version, and to seek out ways that are ethical and in alignment. That marketing can mean simply, “being present in the marketplace.” And how you want to be present and visible to the people who need you is up to you, and your own version of how love is expressed through your business.

Again: What if you were truly trustworthy?

Every reaction, every feeling, everything that arises from within in connection with your business can be trusted, deeply trusted as containing truth. That that trustworthiness means it is worth the time to be with your reactions more deeply and discover what is there.

Beloved, what if you knew the truth that you could absolutely be trusted with your business?

With love,

Every act of business can be an act of love.

Trusting yourself with yes or no.

The Business Model Intensive is not inexpensive, and is not intended for everyone. There may be a part of you that thinks you want it or need it, but feels put off by the price. Trust both reactions.

Perhaps listening more deeply you might find that the work is interesting and that you can see the need for it in the future, but the price is helping you realize it’s not needed now. That you can safely let it go.

Or, maybe you get that your business is ready for it, and you can see that your business can afford the investment without causing you harm, even if it’s a stretch (or not.).

Trust yourself. Trust the No. Trust the Yes. Trust the, “Hmmm… I need to look at it more closely.” Trust yourself.

Here’s the details. Ask questions if you need to.

Today is the early bird deadline for purely administrative reasons, meaning we don’t want to be overwhelmed with last-minute signups, making sure everyone has access. It’s not meant to cause panic or reaction. Trust. If it’s right, take a little time to look more closely and see if it’s what you want. If not, you’ll still be fine.

  1. HI Mark, I agree. Trust is the primary key for a strong business relationships. Being master in a skill helps becoming a trustworthy in the business. But many entrepreneurs are failing to build the skills to expose the knowledge in right way to address people’s expectations, Do you agree?

  2. I really appreciated this HOB message landing today in my inbox…

I felt working with a mentee and a client this morning, that deep trust. In myself, holding space and sharing my empathy, perspective and guidance. And in them, knowing who they are, what they need and where they are able and willing to go next or not.

Thinking about this trust in a deeper knowing. Resting in the trust of a Beloved, a loving creator…

Makes my jaw and face and neck and shoulders relax completely…

I feel more present. More alive. Here and ready for whatever arises in me and those I choose to love.
    Thanks for the invitation Mark!

  3. Yes, Being trustworthy means that people in your organization behave ethically because it’s the right thing to do, not because it will make people trust them again.
