Testing out alternative platforms, a webinar, some other business help

This article is a little different. I wanted to share where we are with a few things, and ask for a little help, if you’re willing.

About an alternative platform

At first, when we moved to using a private Facebook group for our Learning Community, it was fantastic. Engagement went up, we got people a lot more help, and the private group we had hosted in an old-timey phpbb form (for those who remember) had started to feel very tiny and insular. Letting that go was a great choice.

Over the years, it had continued to feel useful to use Facebook for a few reasons. People were showing up and getting help. It was helping folks who were shy or reluctant about social media to stick a toe in, and experience it as a loving, supporting environment in a private group.

Also, I had watched a number of communities leave Facebook and then watch their engagement plummet, and die a slow death in other places. So, that had us feeling very reluctant to change.

For more than a year, maybe two years, the time has felt more and more ripe, for many reasons, not the least of which is fascism. We had tested out a few different platforms, none of which I was very happy with.

Finally, we’re using a platform right now for my small group coaching that feels like it really works. We’re going to be testing it out with current members of our team and our Learning Community over the next week or so. If it goes well, as I think it will, we’ll figure out a timeline to permanently transition our Learning Community off of public social media.

And, if it does go well, I’ll share the name of the platform we’re testing. I don’t want to badmouth any system, including the previous ones that didn’t work well for us.

But, sometimes we have to experiment, and consider changes in our business. It’s okay to not jump quickly. It’s okay to listen to the heart, and to move at a slower pace.

If you’re thinking of changing up a system or approach you currently are using, this is your sign to allow yourself the spaciousness to do it right. To not have to move quickly, unless you feel strongly guided.

Now, I’d like to ask for a little help.

For the last year I’ve been offering a webinar to certain communities where I’ve been invited in. I love this, and if you have a community or group that would like a private, personalized webinar from me, I’d love to offer that.

I’ve also developed this webinar into something really nourishing, healing, and heart-changing. So I want to offer it as a no-cost, no-upsell thing, meaning there’s nothing to buy or being offered during the webinar. It’s intended as a safe learning space.

If you like what we do here at Heart of Business, I’m hoping that you’ll invite friends, colleagues and others to join.

It’s entitled: Marketing from the Heart- How do you “get out there” without exhaustion or feeling gross?

It will be Thursday, October 29, 1:30pm eastern, and go for about 90 minutes, with lots of time for questions and coaching.
