Interview Number Four: Jonathan Fields
Jonathan Fields, who blogs at Awake at the Wheel, was a hedge-fund lawyer, and then has been an entrepreneur several times over, running a gym and then a yoga studio, both of which were financially successful. He’s also the author of Career Renegade, How to make a great living doing what you love.
Maybe because my family has its origins as New York Jews, I feel a certain kinship with his slightly sarcastic, yet openly friendly and loyal attitude. He questions the norms. As he admits in the interview, when he opened his gym he looked at what the norms were in that industry and then did exactly the opposite, leading to a great deal of success.
As he also started a successful yoga studio, it won’t surprise you that he has a spiritual side, but it’s a decidedly unwoo-woo spiritual approach. There’s a quality to his voice that just helps you feel more grounded.
