In working with thousands of clients over the years, one form of question we get most frequently is a version of “Am I doing it right? Is it okay if I do it *this* way?”
Of course, I understand what they are really asking: they want to know if it will work if they do it that way. But the question sounds like the person is either asking for permission, or has an assumption that there’s a right way and a wrong way.
Neither are true: you don’t need permission, and you can’t do it “wrong.” There are more effective and less effective ways to do things, and it’s important to learn, but make sure you hold onto your heart and sovereignty.
In this next video in Yollana’s Heart Leadership series that grew out of the work she’s doing in her Heart Leaders Circle, she helps you learn how to design your business for yourself and others.
Well worth watching, about 3 1/2 minutes.
Let’s share our definitions of success. What’s yours?
What *exactly* does your business need?
It can be hard to know what you need- focus on website, or focus on your audience? Focus on massive growth, or focus inward?
And it’s not just what… but how many? You can only do so many things at a time, and yet your business to-do list runs from your nose down and out the door. Which ones can you let rest untouched for a bit? How do you prioritize?
First, stop. Take a breath. Reconnect with your heart.
Then take our Readiness Assessment. It’s free, and it will help you get right to the heart of what you need
We can help you learn where your business is developmentally and what you need to help it grow.

The image of the separate circles birthing a sweet spot helps break the linear nature of my mind.
“I am either in service or I am doing it just for myself and the money,” is what my mind wants to perceive, poor thing.
If I were to use the linear to describe the lived experience for my mind I might say: “what I have been given to love is the engine, service is who I am given to bring with me and money is the caboose.”
When this order gets mixed up I tend to derail.
And the hardest thing for me most days is sitting inside that engine traveling at just the right speed.
And who is laying the tracks? Uh-oh better get out of that analogy for now (;
Thanks for expressing this so clearly.
Barry, I love what you have shared here.
My friend Robert Gilman from The Context Institute teaches that one of the hallmarks of the new paradigm that we are transitioning into is being able to go beyond linear, categorical thinking.
Yollana, I love this. I have tweeted that image you speak about: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CBbyPptVEAAwlXJ.jpg (it’s source – for this version – Hustle and Grind)
So true, what you are saying.
I get to BE in this spot with my work . . . every day. Every project. And with every client. Thank you for the reminder of how precious this is.
When times are tough (waiting for payments to arrive, or bus dev efforts feel like they’re falling on deaf ears), it’s so easy to forget this.
Thank you for the powerful remembrance.
Lori
Thanks Yollana for your video and sharing your wisdom in such a inspiring + gentle way. It feels joyful to be able to reply ‘YES’ I have created a business where I am in service and get to shine :). Next step is feeling greater comfort in my shining more brightly for others to see:) Namaste, Anneke
Yes! 🙂
Thank you, Lori. And, yes, how precious it is… and even more precious to recognize the preciousness! 🙂
I’m building my business that way now.
Good for you, Linda! 🙂
Absolutely love the message here. Think we can all in fact take this message of following your heart, to heart (if that makes sense!). Thank you for sharing.
