Cultivating Liberation with Anuradha Kowtha

For years now I’ve been taking a very explicitly anti-capitalist approach to business. Some people are surprised by that, because capitalism has done a great job of making people think that capitalism = commerce. But that’s not true.

Humanity has had so many different versions of commerce and trade for our entire existence on this planet, tens of thousands of years, with the recorded history showing such a diversity of the ways that we have traded and used money with each other.

Capitalism is much newer, just the last few hundred years, and it has caused untold harm, hand-in-glove with colonialism, white supremacy and patriarchy.

We really could be living in a much more beautiful world.

My colleague, Anuradha Kowtha, whom I’ve known for years, and whom I trust deeply, has been teaching a course they call Sowing Post Capitalist Seeds. They are doing fantastic, foundational work in sprouting this more beautiful world we yearn for.

I’m hosting Anuradha and a no-cost 90 minute workshop of theirs, “Cultivating Liberation.” It happens next week, Thursday, April 2, 10am-11:30am eastern.

You are invited!

Anuradha says this workshop is to support you in designing tailored anti-capitalist practices towards collective liberation. Meaning, let’s get all of us free of this mess.

This may be for you if you want to start or recenter yourself in social justice and liberatory work given the state of the world and don’t know where to start.

Or, if you’ve been doing some of that… but haven’t quite found your place, or feel burned out.

And, this: feeling at times overwhelmed by grief, or potential places to take action, and haven’t been consistent yet.

In Anuradha’s words: “I truly feel this next 5-10 years is PIVOTAL in resistance and building towards something new. The far right death cult based in Christian supremacy is banking on the end of the world and the rich are trying to capitalize on every single thing till that moment.

“It is CRUCIAL that we build the skills we need to do liberatory work whether that be through mutual aid, care work, survival, education, and activism.

“As the structures crumble, we need to be willing to build new, defend what we hold most dear, and resist the age of monsters and the ultra rich.”

Sounds good to me, I’m in! Which is, of course, why we’re doing this!

And yes, if you register but can’t attend, you will get the recording.
