Hey there,
Members of our Community were posting on a celebration thread recently, and it was wonderful to see how many of them were celebrating financial successes! Things like:
- Starting a weekend with 29 new live students, where last year it was 16.
- Celebrating the quadrupling of income from a new year-long contract and getting the checks in the mail.
- Setting an intention to double their clients two months ago and then realizing she had.
- Having a client sign up for more sessions because they want to go further.
My heart really warms seeing this. It’s not just the money, it’s the fact that they got there in heart-centered ways, staying fully in their integrity.
I know I’ve been doing it a long time, and I still have deep appreciation for how well this heart-centered stuff really does work, on a business level.
The Work of THAT World, the Bread of THIS World
I was leading the final class in The Heart of Your Business, and I was delivering a message I feel is very true: these times are urgent. If you’re involved in building a heart-centered business, then you’re involved in something very beautiful, and very needed.
It reminds me of a quote from the Sufi saint Rabi’a of Basra. I’ll paraphrase, since she didn’t speak English. “I’m doing the work of THAT world, and eating the bread of THIS world.”
Although none of us are saints, we’re trying to presence a better world, one based in love and compassion and freedom and justice… and yet we need to survive in this world. We need to pay the mortgage, and buy groceries, and save for retirement.
Your business has to work, not just feel good.
When your business, your heart-centered endeavor, starts to fly, then it becomes a part of the healing. Not because making money itself is healing (although it can be). But because every time a heart-centered business does well, resources are going towards the good work, instead of into another part of the economy that maybe isn’t so life affirming. And that spreads out, increasing wellbeing for you and your loved ones, and also supporting your communities and the things you care about.
Spiritual people can’t just disappear into some transcendent other-world. We need to be here and now, embodied, making a difference, and fully anchored in our hearts.
It might feel like a narrow path sometimes- living with love and integrity, and yet still making it work in this economy and marketplace. And yet it’s easier than you think when you have the right tools and the needed support.

Loved reading the post because I can relate my feelings to this post. I am also a trainer but I am into digital marketing coaching. When I started PromozSEO 4 years back it was tiny. I started it with my utmost care, love and passion and today I mentored over 1500+ students including many corporate classes. Business must be from heart, business without heart and ethics is not a business.
